You were but a tot when you sprang to the limelight
With your ‘fro and beaming smile
A little boy thrust into the glare of the world
This paradoxical world with all that comes with it
You lived in “never-land” to escape from reality of our world
Our world full of jealously, hate, love and selfishness
You were tormented by lawsuits, skin issues, and endless tabloid scandals
You learnt too late that you couldn’t please all of humanity
At first you were put up there on our worldly pedestal, smiles and adoration from most
Then it turned to hate, scorn, contempt but some of your fans still hung on
They hung on to that Michael that wanted us to look at the "man in the mirror"
They hung on to that Michael that told us we "were the world"
That Michael that said it was up to us to "heal the world"
Your talent took us through those sad moments
Got our legs moving at parties, and got us through our lonely times
But there you were Michael, one of the loneliest men alive
Now you’re gone to a place without the viciousness of our world
You finally found the ultimate "never-land"
A place to escape from the maliciousness of humanity
Rest, Michael, and fret no more as you can finally be yourself
Sleep tight Michael
