Jesus Died in Liberia Print E-mail
Written by Nvasekie N. Konneh

Who says Jesus was crucified
in Palestine 2000 years ago? No, Jesus was not crucified over there in Palestine.
He was crucified on April 12, 1980 in Liberia.

He was a good man,
who meant well for his people and nation.
He was a Renaissance man
who envisioned a new day for his people.

He was between two raging fires
which he found so hard to extinguish
and was consumed by both
in such a ferocious manner.

One side demanded: Change Now! Change Now! Change Now!
The other side reacted: No Change! No Change! No Change!
and they couldn’t find the middle ground
that was necessary to save the day.

Who tells you that Jesus died 2000 years ago?
No, Jesus did not die over there,
he died on April 12, 1980
in Liberia.
He died for the sins of his ancestors
who sold each other into slavery
He died for the sins of his grandfathers and fathers
who discriminated against their own kind.

Don’t believe the hype
Jesus did not die in Palestine 2000 years ago
he died on April 12, 1980 for the sins of his people
in the nation yet to recover from self-inflicted wounds.

Gargar Brown
Hello Gargar:

I am concern why you are so obsess with Mandingos. Almost anytime an issue crop up, you are determined to give it a Mandingo dimension, even using derogatory descriptions for these people. In one of your posts, you referred to Mandingos as stink and untidy because as you put it, while travelling to Kankan in Guinea, your fellow Mandingo travellers were spitting in the car!! In other posts, you have attacked Mandingos as unpatriotic, alien and barbaric. In one specific post, your referred to two prominent Mandingo friends you knew at St. Patrick, and how these friends performed poorly in school. This came at the time when debate was raging about the unlawful seizure and occupation of Mandingo properties in Nimba and other places.

Following the publication of Mr. Konneh’s controversial poem, you have made several contradictory statements, and closed with an assault on Mandingos yet again as forming alliance with Mandingos outside perhaps with some nefarious plan.

In some ways, I do not blame you. Attacks on Mandingos in Liberia are commonplace. We say it during the first Republic when Mandingos residing in Liberia were issued resident permits that branded them as foreigners because President Benson had lost confidence in one of his Mandingo business partners. Before the war the, whole nation was entertained with a Radio Drama by the cultural group, Mala walabalawala, that portrayed the Mandingos as profiteering criminals. This popular drama showed the actors were headed for Guinea, the presumed home of all Mandingos. Who knows how this portrayal of the Mandingos contributed to hate and the pogroms during the war.

It just does not make sense to me why someone (or a group of people) will hold so much hate for certain group. My knowledge of history is that too much hate usually turn the hater into a dangerous psychopath as Hitler became when he ordered the extermination millions of Jews in Germany. His murderous campaigns to extinguish Jews not only fails, but also created the conditions for Jews to come together as one people. We are all witness to this unfolding reality.

reply to post#52
Sekou, don't compared me to Hitler but to this man... Winston Churchill followed a trajectory. Before the war began, he was a relatively minor figure, appearing only when he made the news for calling attention to German rearmament. Between the outbreak of the war and his appointment as prime minister, he was a bumbling clown, the hapless victim of German military brilliance. Between May 1941 and the invasion of the Soviet Union, he was the prime enemy, the person standing between Germany and a just peace. For the remainder of the war, he was the puppet of Stalin and Roosevelt and the Jews who stood behind them.

I repeat let my people go Mandingoes..
I am sorry for TQ. Harris he thought Charles Taylor was the enemy? wrong you must thank God after Taylor left there were peace it was Jesus intervention that made it possible. :cry enough.. is enough let my people go.

The Liberian Jesus
In my belief Konneh wrote a good political poem without considering the African concept of Religion. The African Mind is one is one of a sick mind. African"in this case Liberian" love to partition religion into ethnicity, such is an classic example of how a low-level mind like most of us liberian are can spew religions war as though as the God, Allah, Jesus or whatsoever was their personal property.

If any you threw insults at Konneh, consider it your own, not God. God or Jesus care less about such bullshit

Cheap Zealotry and Dogmatism
Well-

Maybe religion has become more than " the opium" of some folks on this forum... See we are about to reinvent a crusade and Jihad...

Jesus was such a pragmatic person and would have just sigh over the allusion made by Konneh. It seems like our Christian and Muslim kins were looking for the slightest excuse to start a religious war.

There is little or no substance in this fight; you guys are wasting precious ink and cartridge.

You guys have gone way overboard and just found some lame excuses to continue the religious war..........

Lest we forget..........

Cheap Zealotry and Dogmatism
where are the Europeans Christians? Africans Christians(Bantus) are losing the battle against the Muslim, We see a take over in Congo, Nigeria now another possible take over in Liberia-Sierra Leone-Ivory Coast. The Bantus are losing their Homeland against the aggressive Muslim groups.

President of Liberian Youth of North Jer
It is with deep regret and sympathy that I write this little note. Liberian people when are we going to change? And just for the record, I am not commenting as a Mandingo nor as a muslium but rather a citizen of the universe. How can we hate each other so much? No wonder why Liberia is so far behind on our redevelopment efforts. All this bickering back and forth has not taken us anywhere so why are we still stuck on "STUPID". I urge all Liberians, whether by birth or naturalization, to please utilize their energy and intellectual capacity to bring peace and harmony to this tirelesssly abused land called Liberia. All this religious, ethnic and tribalistic attacks are fruitless and would take us nowhere as a people. God, Allah, Jesus,Yaweh or whatever you want to call him, is LOVE AND LOVE IS GOD!!!!! :)
