History tells us that one of the factors that
contributed to the prolonged civil war in Liberia is due to the
spreading of false and misleading information in the society.

Defense Minister Brownie Samukai’s recent treatment of the
family of Pvt. Ambrose Swen when the soldier died during training is
nothing but a disgrace to his profession, and the minister’s callous
attitude towards other Liberians.
According to the minister, Pvt. Swen was killed by a blank bullet but
did not explain how.

The whole foundation for political leadership is a pure concept of
morality. In consequence, political leadership represents
transcendental proposition of the people’s aspirations, a utilitarian
determination for the general good and general will of the people.

For the last two years, Grand Gedeans have been at loggerheads with
each other bitterly debating the problems that are tearing the Grand
Gedeh Association in the Americas apart. The climax to all this
wrangling came in May of 2009 when an election was held to usher in a
new administration.

Rape, Loot & Murder: Liberian Civil War
By James Kokulo Fasuekoi
125 pp. Price: $58.95
Countless articles have been written about the Liberian civil war. It
has inspired volumes of poetry, songs and dramas. Documentary films
have been produced portraying all aspects of the fratricidal war that
went on for more than a decade. There are lots of us that can only give
verbal narratives of what we saw and experienced. Now comes a book that
portrays the war through the lens of a photo journalist.

The appointment of Christina Tah to head the Liberian Justice
Department, was meant to convey a renew vigor to the sore eye, to what
has been a Johnson Sirleaf’s effort to turn around a failed state since
her investiture in 2005. At that ceremony, she vowed to give the state
a fresh image both in the eyes of domestic and international observers.
So far, Sirleaf has succeeded in rebranding the country as new beacon
and a place where unlike yesterday debates in the public square are
free from the wanton harassment that characterized the people’s free
expression.

In the most passionate and strongest of terms, I wish to condemn
president Ellen Johnson and hold her personally responsible for the
reading of a dehumanizing document at Liberia's independence day
celebration, which label our people as "barbarians." It is Ellen
Johnson and her Liberian cabal that are the real "barbarians."

Introduction
A couple of decades ago, Liberia witnessed a classic battle between
supporters of change and those wanting to maintain the status quo.
Although the agents of change put up a good fight, it wasn’t enough.
They lost the battle and were crushed. For instance, my dad, the late
Jackson F. Doe, a well-known and respected politician, wanted a break
with the past. Therefore, he contested the 1985 presidential elections
and was the presumptive winner.

Dear Mr. Nyanteh Z. Gaye
I am Samuel Zohnjadee Joe and not Sam V. Collins aka Sam Joe as you
have alleged. On three
separation occasions, it was brought to my attention that you are
regular on the Liberian forum with my name, accusing me of being Sam V.
Collins and writing stuff about me that are unsubstantiated and
unsupported by facts.
