“Every Action has an Equal and Opposite Reaction,” is the third of Sir
Isaac Newton's laws of physics, which we all accept today. But does
this law of physics apply to every facet of life?

1.Both seriously suffer from a messiah complex-One is a grandma, I
mean, “child” who believes she’s “great”,-the other, a paranoid
schizophrenic and self-styled liberator who, despite his current
incarceration, is still dreaming of his triumphant return to Liberia.

The book, Pinpointing the Points, which many of you have been waiting
for has finally been published. Actually, it is an extension of the
continuous Liberian discourse.
In Pinpointing the Points, I present and comment on such topics as free
speech, violence, elections, corruption, post-1990 education, war
crimes trial, the ugliness of war and other pertinent Liberian issues.

"Charles Taylor, though incarcerated, reviews his Final Days before he Left Liberia For Nigeria"Charles
Taylor was counting on his days. In examining the road he had traveled
so far, he could sense that he should have had a premonition of his
eventual fall into the hands of his enemies, the day he predicted that
he would return. In his prison cell, he knew the die was cast. He had
come so far to cross the Rubicon, and yet, the Rubicon was so far away.

I was fortunate to read the account of the so-called unity ball which
turned out to be an inaugural program on the Minnesota Chapter of the
Grand Gedeh association website. Many thanks to Kwame Weeks for good
reporting. It is very interesting to observe the way our people think
and behave.

It seems like our pleasantly confused President just can’t stay
away from miscues and very poor decision making, not only does she have
a nexus of corrupt and incapable individuals serving in her government,
she also continues to make decisions that undermine the credibility of
the very process that catapulted her to the helm of power.

The thick cement concrete walls, the steel iron bars and translucent
glass cannot contain the spirit and soul and mind of former Liberian
president Charles Ghankay Taylor as he serves prison terms at the
Hague. For him those man-made structures are mere efforts to keep him
away from his people, his family and friends.

Author: WOLE SOYINKA
Wole Soyinka’s autobiography, “Ake”: the years of childhood,’ is an
extraordinary anthology of the author’s childhood, which he vividly
describes with profuse humor, combined with unmistakable power of
intellect. The visual images conjured in this autobiography, through
artistry based on the intelligent employment of words and sharp
recollection of events, have been so perfectly deployed that the reader
is able to trace the contours of history and the events embedded in
them with his/her mind’s eye, without having to do the unthinkable of
physically travelling in time in its reversal to appreciate the
episodes.

Recent statements attributed to the Press Secretary in the office of
President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, that “The President will not implement
anything that goes against the constitution”, relative to the
implementation of the final report of the TRC, is a declaration of war
on the rule of law and the sensibilities of the Liberian people.

In my last article I asked, "Is President Ellen Johnson Using Her ‘Political Capital’ Wisely?" I questioned the wisdom of the president
appointing Mr. Benoni Urey as acting mayor of Careysburg. I still do
and will expound on the matter herein.

In the eyes of us Liberians, we only see corruption when we think there
is a financial gravy train at a particular place of interest to us. In
expressing the envy we feel towards the individual who occupied that
position where the gravy train of our interest is situated, we begin to
fabricate stories about corruption, sometimes where there is no
corruption. We cry corruption at the loudest possible voices only when
we want to cause problem for the one who we think enjoys the benefits
of the financial gravy train, obviously the object of our envy!

What is political capital? To answer that question, I turn to the
collective wisdom of the public site, Wikipedia, which states:
“Political capital is primarily based on a public figure’s favorable
image among the populace and among other important actors in or out of
government.

On September 24, 2009, a hearing was held on the case: Wulue Kalar vs
Grand Gedeh Association in the Americas. The legal question in the case
is whether the Grand Gedeans from Rochester, New York were denied the
right to vote.
