On the Holding of a one-day neoprogressive Conference held in Philadelphia on December 15, 2007
In further demonstration of their desire to initiate a new direction in
the social, economic and political landscape of Liberia, Liberians
under the banner of the Neo Progressive Movement assembled in
Philadelphia on Saturday December 15, 2007 and deliberated for more
than five hours.

This is not your usual article. I just wanted to talk-write and give my
views on some issues as 2008 looms, as if I was writing a blog. Matter
of fact I am hoping I can start a blog in 2008 to afford myself the
opportunity to comment on the socio-economic political dynamics that
are shaping modern day Liberia. A lot of stuff is not being said and I
am to a degree disappointed in the Liberian media with little exception
though. I might title my blog The Geeplay Chronicle. Or simply
something outrageous like Fufu pawpaw and Juju, now that’s funny.

During the 2005 elections, experience, which became a pivotal factor in
the determining the winner, is once again emerging, except that the
experience of our President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will not help her
government in instituting a people’s policy. Experience, according to
the former U. S. President John F. Kennedy, “is like taillights on a
boat which illuminate where we have been when should be focusing on
where we should be going.”

In every
culture, in every age and in every civilization, ancient philosophers informed
us that great souls are born in order to address the sufferings of others.
These souls in their quest to be of service to their brothers and sisters
provide light and inspiration. These personalities do possess great knowledge,
but yet are people of little financial and material means. They possessed inner
determination to help others or to do those things that will help to enlighten
the minds of others.

A foreign national and businessman who for more than a decade and half
lived and ran a business in Liberia’s northern provincial town of
Ganta, Nimba County, says he hosted Gen. Charles Julue in Freetown,
Sierra Leone and that they together heard of the July 1990 Lutheran
Church massacre in Monrovia on BBC news.

-A Pacesetter riddled with bullets; Bryant, the artificial lamb
Disc A of the movie, Desperate Billionaires has just ended, and like
every comic-tragedy film, there were tears and joys. The debate
nevertheless continues in street corners, and various corridors erect
defenses and advance offenses characteristic of any fray that leaves
public opinion divided along controversial lines. And, too-smart actors
have just been given a boorish awakening too; their dipped out
thousands used to get hold of the most sophisticated weapons to slay
hundreds of thousands but could not get the job done except thru the
Accra-derived comprehensive peace agreement on Liberia.

The Perspective & an American Paratrooper.
PART I.
From Newspapers, Television, Radio and the Internet, Journalism has come
to be redefined in contrast to its early inception. One cannot stay with a particular
story for a long time-all day- perhaps, not considering when you have to rush
to watch Headline News, Breaking News
from CNN, Fox News, ABC News or perhaps
NBC Meet The Press, since the world is now in a pitch fever for the next Presidential Election, especially when a
candidate of African decent, Illinois Senator , Barrack Obama, a son of a
Kenyan Professor, stands to actually
define ‘Race Relations' in America -delivering
to us significant events and flashpoints from around the world.

I sometimes wonder, if Mr. George Oppong Weah had won the 2005 general
election where will Liberia be today, economically and in terms of the
rule of law? The Liberian President has been accused of traveling the
world over, but I believe that her traveling has brought us good
dividends and there are more dividends in the pipeline. I don't mean to
question the integrity and capability of Mr. Weah, but if President
Sirleaf who worked in the system she is now begging on behalf of
Liberia, this task could have even be much harder for Mr. Weah because
the international community must believe in what you are telling them,
and also they must believe that you are credible by example.

Today, life in Liberia is no longer an unmitigated
disaster, even through measured against the goals of a functioning economy;
there is still room for growth. Our country has been put on a path to prosperity,
and policies have been put in place to bridge our social divide.

.....Mr. Bangalu, like the now reinstated Macdonald Wento, is a victim of
Mr. Weah’s usual practice of dictating the pace of the party, throwing
out party members who will not be dragged along in his personal quests
and aspirations.

The Sirleaf administration from the very beginning got off to a bad
start. Now the President seems unwilling to reverse course in spite of
obvious difficulties in jumpstarting the highly anticipated recovery.
Her decision to downsize civil servants before upping private sector
employment was a wrong move considering the 85% unemployment rate.
Similarly, the decision to dissolve the national army and retrench
veteran police and security officers was misguided. Not to mention, the
large sums of money being spend to court investors before bringing
crime under control.

According to history books, gun-wielding European slave traders
kidnapped one in five Africans and transported them across the oceans
to the Americas. A less visible, but no means less drastic
technological tool of suppression, is the compass, a device used
worldwide for navigation. In the same way that Britain used its
maritime knowledge and the US harnessed its intellectual capital to
rule the world, the early slave traders used the simple compass to
wreak havoc on civilization.
