Response to Mr. Kirkpatrick Weah
Written by Leo Mulbah

rebutMy Civic Duty: IN RESPONSE TO Mr. Kirkpatrick Weah –theliberianjournal.com—Why prosecute George Weah.

It saddens me to read a well composed letter that dissuades the exercise of our Civic Duty when it is convenient. Those who have written regarding this matter are neither detractors nor prosecutors. In fact an argument could be made that they are ordinary Liberians with extraordinary courage to speak truth to power.

Circulation of Sexually Explicit Images Alarming In Liberia

Once again, sexually explicit photos of a group of Liberian women believed to be in the employ of ECO Bank as tellers are circulating in Monrovia and on the Internet. They were employed as bank tellers. They were expected to serve as role models in the society. On their break time, they began to view porno because they had free access to the Internet at the bank.

Journalist/Artist James Fasuekoi tests his musical instruments known as "Sangba" or "Njumbe" moments before the march.I was born in a relatively small and secluded town in northern Liberia where until the civil war that spurred a mass exodus, only a few ever made it to the outside world.

weah_clivemason_150x2001Goal Ambassador George Weah, Advocates for Children Education: Marking International Day of African Child

Today is a memorial period in the history of the world. It was on this same day, 34 years ago, when poor black South African school children took to the streets to demand a better education. Hundreds of those children were brutally murdered and many more were gravely wounded. It is upon their honor that I, George Manneh Weah, former UNICEF Ambassador joined with a few of the world’s most celebrated footballers to launch the 1GOAL campaign.

jsoloIn recent years every day presents complication for the Grand Gedeh Community in the diaspora. A serious division is going on and the way things stand, every rank and file Grand Gedean has taking side. It took long time to get here. But here is where we are and we have to deal with it on our individual levels; in every way possible. But before we begin to make any attempt to solve the problem, we must know what this problem is.

Stop the spin

rebutMr. Weah released a press statement wherein he tried to distance himself from Mr. Bestman.
His office meticulously chronicled his itinerary on the date in question like a Forensic scientist recreating a crime scene. His public relations group does a masterful job of spin management.

The Minister of Gender should, and must, Resign
Written by A. Summerville
Thursday, 17 June 2010
foto-ministergayflorWhy does the  Liberian Government have a minister still serving who served under Charles Taylor?  I am even more dismayed that this woman, who neither was in the struggle nor assisted the thousands of women in their fight to end the war (See the documentary Pray the Devil Back to Hell to learn how courageous our women were and still are) should now be enjoying what they have fought for.

thumb_vkSince coming home from the US I have made it my business to attend Friday prayers in different mosques in Monrovia. So on May 28, 2010, I was at the Ahmadiya Mosque on Lynch Street. For most mainstream Moslems in Liberia or elsewhere in the world, this will be unusual because to many, the Ahmadiyas are not “authentic Moslems.”
