Written by J. Yanqui Zaza
Thursday, 04 February 2010
rebutPresident Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and her friends seem to believe that they can fool all of the people all the time. For instance, Sirleaf herself has yet to explain issues surrounding the $1million check at Central Bank. Mr. Estrada Bernard, a brother in-law has not explained how he earned the $600,000.00 payment from CellCom.

sirleaf3President Sirleaf’s Second Term Pronouncement; The Political- Development Implications
So the Madam has decided to run for a second term, and there are disagreements over her statement. Pundits believe that the place of her pronouncement was not the right venue- others argued that there is no better forum to make pronouncements, because as it is, politics is an “international currency” and does not succumb to any locality and its exchange rates.

Failed Politicians - Liberian Style: A Rejoinder to Lewis Brown’s Rant
Written by R. Wesley Harmon
Wednesday, 03 February 2010

rebutPart I

That Messrs Lewis Brown, Edwin Melvin Snowe, Winston Tubman, George M. Weah, and other Liberian politicians can spew political venom at, and criticize the Liberian presidency so freely and openly, without fear of reprisals, is testimony to how far Liberia has come in terms of political maturity, thanks, in no small measure, to the very object of their scorn, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf. Liberia now joins Ghana, and a handful of other African countries where criticism of the president is not a capital offense.

sirleafcampaignIn Your Face: Ellen Dares Liberia’s Political Opposition
….It Is Time to Play Ball She Tells Them!

Ellen Johnson stood before the Liberian congress a week ago, enumerating her administration’s success since she assumed the mantle of state four years ago. Her address would become a bombshell that would send surge of waves way beyond the borders of Liberia and with it she broke new a barrier: being the first sitting president to announce her bid for reelection before a joint chamber of Liberian Assembly.

Commentary: American-Liberians Found Guilty of Corruption in Liberia Must Have their Days in court in US

The culture of corruptions is deeply rooted in Liberia and goes on at almost every level of the Liberian society INCLUDING GOVERNMENT. The acts of corruption over the years has cost Liberia fortunes and deprived its citizens of THE much needed resources for development and progress. What is even more disappointing is the case of returning Liberians some of whom are naturalized CITIZENS in other countries, including the US.

ggflag An article written by Carlton Diahn  recently appeared on the website of the Grand Gedeh Association in the Americas, Minnesota Chapter. Carlton is a young man and my cousin. His piece is so insightful that you want to wonder who is this guy. But he is a young Grand Gedean who is beginning to see things as they are in our community. People  who aspire to the leadership of this community should try to get people like Carlton on your team. He is very conscientious as oppose to some of these way ward young people most of whom are surrounding Martha Kannah. Carlton did not insult anybody.

Liberia’s Corruption “Devil” is Bigger than Pres Sirleaf and Her Unity Party
Written by Joseph Saah Fallah
Saturday, 30 January 2010
sirleaf7Liberia’s political opposition parties are forging a marriage of convenience against the one person they love to detest the most -- President Sirleaf. Understandably, she stands in the way of their political ambition -- a seat in the Executive Mansion.

liberia_grxAFTER 4 YRS PLUS $1 BILLION, LIBERIA IS REPLETE WITH SCARY SIGNS OF FAILURE: R. TOLBERT CALLED INDIGINOUS IDIOTS, ETC

Before addressing our topic “After 4 yrs plus $1 billion, Liberia is replete with scary signs of failure,” let us revisit the issue of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s business interest and “conflict of interest.” President Sirleaf’s supporters continue to say that Sirleaf having a business interest is not a crime as long as those who are crying foul do not provide evidence of a crime.

Sirleaf declaration to seek reelection in Liberia undermines justice
Written by Tamba D. Aghailas
Wednesday, 27 January 2010
sirleafpic3When President Johnson of Liberia ran for election in 2005, she made numerous promises to the war-weary people of that nation, promises that have yet to be honored. She pledged then to serve only one term (although there is no law in the constitution that makes such a pledge binding); she promised to make corruption "public enemy number one" (corruption under Sirleaf's watch is rampant and mismanagement of public funds is the order of the day); she promised to combat poverty, crime, and injustice (all these ills continue to plague the country).
