peterdaohInformation reaching our news desk indicates that the co-Chairman of the Liberian Community in Libya, Peter Daoh, died last Friday, October 30, 2009, at his Shala-tee-saa residence in Tripoli.
According to Mr. William Teah, who is the Special Task Force Coordinator of the Liberian Community in Libya, Mr. Daoh died five days after he had been discharged from the Shala Zawia Hospital where he had been operated on for appendix.

“He was discharged on October 25th and told to return on the 31st for some check up, but he died a day before the appointment. It’s too sad. He was an active member of the Liberian community here,” remarked Mr. Teah lamentingly.

Mr. Daoh, who had Higher Diploma in Electricity from the High Institute for the Training of Male Instructors in Libya, was an alumni of the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) in Liberia.

Reports have it that the late Peter Daoh was a former player of the Bame Football Team in Liberia, specifically during the 1980's. In Libya, he served as the coach of the Liberian Community Soccer Squad. He led the community team to three tournaments in which the team took second place in two. He was also the former coach of the Africa Unity Club Soccer Team in the Libyan Jamahiriya.

Sources in Libya have indicated that Mr. Daoh was part of the delegation that met with the Liberian Traditional Chiefs and Elders when they attended a special meeting with Libyan Leader Ghadafi in 2008. During the meeting, Mr. Peter Daoh, on behalf of the community team, presented a trophy to the chiefs and elders. Besides, when the Lone Star of Liberia played in Libya last year, he and the Liberian community met with them. He, along with the Chairman and members of the Liberian community, also met with Ambassador George Weah during his (Ambassador Weah’s) private visit to Libya in 2005.

According to reports, the Liberian Embassy in Tripoli and officials of the Liberian Community in Libya are collaborating on how to go about the funeral arrangement, as they await words from Mr. Daoh’s family in Liberia.

Mr. Joseph Success Pokpe, Chairman of the Liberian Community in Libya, and Mr. William Teah, Special Task Force Coordinator of the Liberian Community in Libya, have indicated that they will provide the public with additional information about the situation.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Community in Libya has opened a book of condolence in Tripoli in honor of the late Peter Daoh.

What a lost !
What a lost, what may have happened? The operation was not that critical! I am not a medical doctor, but I know so many people who have had the same operation and got out alive. May the brother rest in peace..And may the lord confort his family members..

This is the same country where one of their doctors injected people with aids.

This is the same country where one of them bomb a jet killing thousands of innocent people.

Resently, the killer was given a hero welcome home from prison.

The same country where NPFL Taylor got trained to destroyed Liberia and killed thousands of innocent people.
over political power.

Something is wrong with the country Libya, and it's over 25 years old Leadership..

With everthing being considered, the Libyan leader is calling for African unity, where he want to be the first leader. Give me a brake..

May his soul rest in peace
Someone died from appendix? He must had gotten dube by a scammer calling himself a doctor. Appendix is a very simple procedure and even doctors in Liberia can perform it without proper instrument. I reccommend they sue the hospital immediately. Maybe the wrong organ was taken out or the so-called doc broke the thing and left the residue inside the man. Which cause his death. Sorry for your lose.

THE HOSPITAL OWE THE FAMILY EXPLANATION
It is a sad thing to see my fellow Liberian die in exile. I believe that nothing happens for nothing. The body should not be buried now; an autopsy should be perform to know what the brother actually die from. Life is not replaceable and when it is taking away the manner in which it happened must be explained. As the power invested in me as a citizen of Liberia let the Liberian embassy in Tripoli hire international pathologists to investigate the death of our brother peter. Even countries that they referred to as third world countries can perform thousands of such operation without death. We Liberians like to take things for granted. Let the Hospital be sued and the doctors that were involved in the operation be thoroughly investigated. People sell human organs nowadays for common and we can not rule that out in this case. It is a business that makes fast money in the world. Let the family express dissatisfaction over the death of their son. Seek a lawyer's advice in the case and it will surprise you what will happen.Think about Michael Jackson death case. It is in court right now. Michael Kesselly(USA)

Rest In Peace, Coach!!!
The story of Liberians in Libya is a chapter of a people's struggle in exile.I met Coach in Tripoli few years ago when I arrived there after crossing the mighty Sahara. He was inspiring and welcoming.Together we all tried to re-awaken the Liberian organization. He looked forward to the day he would return home. Sadly, he would never see the Atlantic Coast again!! May we erect a monument one day in Liberia to honor all our brothers and sisters who died in 'exile'. On it I hope to inscribe the initial P.D. in loving memeory to Coach.

EFLA Regrets His Loss
The European Federation of Liberian Associations (EFLA) regrets the fall of this man at the cold hands of death. His efforts to hold Liberians together in that part of Africa, where they sought refuge will forever be remembered.

On behalf of other Liberian organizations in the Diaspora, EFLA extends deep condolences to the bereaved family of Daoh. May his soul have peace wherever he may be.

EFLA Regrets His Loss
"My People" let us be a little knowledgeable about appendix. When ruptured, it will kill you if not attended to within, twenty four hours while taking antibiotics before surgery.

After living over seas for almost thirty five years, I sometimes laugh at myself and others about our ignorance back in the days in Liberia, regarding medical disasters.

An example, when a person goes to work well in the morning, sits in his chair at his desk, passes out and dies, we say, "someone has witch the man", he was well this morning when he came to work and, someone put witch in his chair. FOOLISHNESS!. It could have been a stroke, diabetes coma or, a heart attack.

When a person indulged in eating bowl of palm butter every Saturday with fufu or, palaver sauce and even check rice and gravy, and washing it down with "CLUB BEER" dies one day from his arteries being blocked, we call it witch. That is not WITCH, that is just too much oil.

My brothers and sisters, we need to educate ourselves with how our bodies function. Most Liberians do not have a physical until they are sick and almost dead then, that is when they visit a doctor or, a nurse who most call, Doctor.

Not every time a person dies of a simple illness is some how related to malpractice or, witch. Liberians, let us learn to take care of ourselves especially, Liberian men. Most of you do not like going to the doctor and after you have turned 40 years old, your chances of getting prostrate cancer is very great.

For those of you who live abroad with insurance, please take care of your medical needs. For my brothers and sisters living in Liberia, just keep on praying and taking good care of yourselves the best possible way.

God bless!
