samdoeI. Samuel Doe the Unknown
Was he on the Upper Layer of the 3rd or the 7th Sky? Where on this vast planet earth was him? Was he in the inner circle of the lower region of the milky moon watching us with cold frozen eyes? Was he in his hidden corner consulting the occult science teachers as how to lighten his way with his ambitious plan of upsetting the traditional order of things in our sleeping world? Whatever might have been the case, we were unaware of his existence and we could care less who he was and what he planned to do. He was not one of those firebrand revolutionaries whose revolutionary rhetoric was sounding like sweet music in our ears.

No, he was not one of those firebrand revolutionaries who were prophesying the new days to come. So there was no justification why we should have bothered to think of someone like him. This unknown young man might have set his sight so high like a high powered cameral focusing on all of what was going on in the country. What was the firebrand revolutionaries who were preaching all those earth shattering revolutionary messages thinking would be the outcome of their revolutionary preaching? What were the highly entrenched crazy baldheads thinking of all that were going on? Neither side ever thought of this unknown figure who would come to upset the more than hundred years old system of minority rule with an announcement of brand new days of liberation, hope and progress. With all the truck loads of degrees from the greatest colleges and universities, they knew not what tomorrow would bring. Some people said after the event that they could see the atmosphere pregnant with premonition of things to come but none could say with total surety and clarity the exact manner and time of what was to come. That’s why it took all of us by surprise when we heard the announcement on the radio that a change had come and we were now free like bat to do whatever we wanted to do. Could this change be real? Could this be a rouse by the entrenched system to nab the so called revolutionaries and take them to where we would never see or hear of them again? There were zillions of questions on our minds but as time went by we realized and believed that a change had actually come and a man called Samuel Doe and fellow juntas were firmly in control.  Like when you went to bed and not knowing what would unfold in the morning only to discover when the sun rises that a change had taken place.

II. Samuel Doe the Hero

I heard them say that in some places revolution could not be televised. But in some places revolutions have surely been televised for the whole world to see. No prophet of truth and faith and love can ever died in spirit, though the physical body may be buried. His can be a reservoir of inspiration pumping fire burning revolutionary feeling in the living souls of generations now and generations to come. All prophetic teachings and preaching from the blessed tongues of Blyden, D. Twe, Albert Port and many others transformed into new burning living sun of inspiration of our time giving birth to new revolutionary prophets like Baccus, Tipoteh, Sawyer, Fambulleh and other revolutionary firebrands with limited power to physically overturn the rotten system of minority dominated regime of more than 100 years old. With the limitation of the power of PhDs to convince the crazy baldheads who were so bent on perpetuating the outdated dying system, necessitating the participation of forces less enlightened to effectuate the final push for the expected change. This change was the hour of rebirth for the country and we rose up in happiness never before seen in the length and breath of this nation. Change we had been waiting for was finally here and we had to celebrate that change. Yes Tolbert was a good man but he headed a system controlled by men with outdated thinking who could not show any inclination to embrace the change that were absolutely necessary. Change can sometime be like mighty river drowning all those that stand in its way. Samuel Doe and his fellow juntas embodied this change. Even though they were not the big names firebrand revolutionaries we all knew but they were the instruments that made the change possible. We were thirsty for freedom and for the first time we tasted freedom as never before. It was the hours of the sun, moon and star. The hours of the weeping souls and flesh. The hour of the heroes. The hour of our deliverance from the tentacles of octopus that was sucking our collective energy. Doe and his friends manifested the symbol of our Liberian Dream of freedom, justice and equality. They were our modern days Shaka Zulu, Mansa Musa, Samori Toure, Behanzi, Sunni Ali, King Sao Bosso Kamara and many great leaders of the past. We loved and worshipped Samuel Doe and the revolution with all the promises of beautiful paradise for us all. We wore the revolution like beautiful colorful garments. We marched on the streets, chanting, in the cause of the people, no more corruption, struggle continues! It was the hours of our liberation and those that made it possible were the heroes of our many years of struggle!

III. Samuel Doe the Villain

What happened to the revolution? What happened to all the lofty ideals of the revolution? Did everything vanish into thin air? Didn’t we sing the songs? Didn’t we recite the poems? Didn’t we dance on the streets in celebration of the revolution? Didn’t the revolution put an end to nepotism, rampant corruption, abuse of power by the few against the many? Oh I say where were all the lofty goals and ideals of the revolution? Did the revolution vanish into thin air or did it burst into bubbles we could no longer hold together? As years gone by, all these questions started to pop up in our minds. All because the revolution did not ended sectionalism, nepotism, rampant corruption and abuse of power. The revolution began to eat its own children one by one. The Prophet of the revolution ceased to be the liberating prophet we saw in the beginning. He was no longer the hero. What happened when the revolutionary prophet betrays his own revolution and people? What happened when he goes after other people with vengeance, derailing the revolution? I say the revolution was betrayed and things started going down hill, down hill, and down hill. Same hands that pushed him up the ladder became the same hands pulling him down the ladder. They used to sing songs of praise. Now they were singing songs of condemnation. They used to recite poems of praises. Now they were reciting poems of condemnation. Yes, every good thing must come to an end. The revolutionary became the reactionary, no longer the hero. He ceased to be the man who had inspired true nationalism in our hearts and minds. He was transformed into a tyrant whose thirst for power could not be quenched. It was no longer about the people. It was no longer about the hero who loved and cared about all the people. Everything now was about the tyrant who wanted to rule forever with power of supremacy. He forgot the revolution was about the people and that he was just an instrument for change the people had dreamed and aspired to. He forgot that the assassination was only necessary so that change may come to free the masses from subhuman bondage of an outdated degraded system. He deviated from the path of the revolution, betraying the cause of the revolution. From the dialectic of nationalism, everything was reduced to ethnic dialectic that became cancer infecting the whole nation. He became a hunter protecting narrow self-interest against the popular democratic revolutionary aspiration of the masses.

he was not the congo people medicine
he was just a normal man who made the congo people to know that we all can live in liberia peacefully without one group being the servants of the other. the congo people, experiencing what slavery was like, came to liberia to practice what they went through in america. so the boy told them that slavery was wrong and to keep slavery alive ibn liberia was something no one was willing to accept. however, he too forgot somethings that were crucial to the establishment of a just and free society for all . his tribal inclination coupled with his unwillingness to allow the people to express their desire and wishes made him to go down just as he came to the political scene. live by the guns and died by that brutal gun.

We, whatever we do in this world, good or evil will always lived after us. For some, Doe will forever be the hero and for others, he will forever be the villain.

Ethnic groups of Liberia
Indigenous African tribes constitute 95% of the population. Linguistically, the tribes may be divided into three main groups: the Mande people in the north and far west, the Kru tribes (including the Krahn) in the east and southeast, and the Mel in the northwest. The largest groups are the Kpellé, Bassa, Gio, Kru, Grebo, Mano, Krahn, Gola, Gbandi, Loma, Kissi, Vai, and Bella. About 2.5% of the population is Americo-Liberian, descendants of immigrants from the US who had been slaves. There are also two tribes not strictly Liberian: the Mandingo, who are itinerant Muslim traders, and the Fanti fishermen, who come from Ghana.

Because of intermarriage and an aggressive national unification program, tribal divisions are rapidly becoming less distinct, especially around the capital. Nevertheless, there is a strong tendency among the indigenous people to preserve their tribal identities.

Of the non-African resident population, the biggest component consists of Lebanese and Syrians.

GENERAL SAMUEL DOE
President of Liberia
----------------------------
Samuel Doe came to power in a bloody 1980 coup, a Master Sergeant in military gear. Today, he is a self-made General in a suit, living on US aid and corporate kickbacks. But while Doe and his cronies live in luxury, the rest of Liberia dwells in squalor. Under his regime, the gross domestic product has decreased by 13%, the country's health statistics are among the world's worst, 80% of the population is illiterate, all opposition parties but one were forbidden to participate in the 1985 national elections, and those who protest these inequities are jailed or killed. Doe, a pro-American anti-communist, received $500 million in U.S. aid between 1980 and 1985. When Congress threatened to cut off funds because of Liberia's human rights abuses, Doe requested "American financial advice" as a show of good will. The U.S. sent 17 accountants, bank examiners, and economists to help Doe balance his budget, but they realized a difficult task lay ahead when they learned that Doe had purchased over sixty $60,000 Mercedes Benz cars for his government ministers and had given the Liberian soccer team $1 million for winning a match against rival Ghana. Ultimately Doe refused to allow access to records concerning 40% of Liberia's funds, for this "second budget", revenues from gasoline and lodging taxes, goes directly into the President's bank account. The American advisors returned home in 1989, mission not accomplished, and Samuel Doe remains in office, despite early 1990 rumblings of rebel plots against him.

GENERAL SANI ABACHA
President of Nigeria
----------------------------
General Sani Abacha is a corrupt and repressive dictator in the oil-rich country of Nigeria. Supported by oil wealth, Abacha has tried to cover his repression under a mantle of democracy by allowing fraudulent elections which only serve to guarantee his continued control. During elections in 1994, Chief Moshood Abiola, considered to be the likely winner, was arrested and placed in prison before the rigged results were announced; Abacha retained control. More than 100 government executions occurred in 1994, and numerous pro-democracy demonstrators were killed by police. Shell Oil provides most of the country's wealth by extracting oil from the Ogoniland region, while in the process causing severe environmental destruction and devastating the local economy. More than 700 Ogoni environmentalists protesting the destruction of their way of life, were executed in recent years. The greatest travesty occurred in November 1995, when environmental leader Ken Saro-Wiwa and 8 associates, were hanged despite an international outcry. Shell supported Abacha's policies by its silence. Despite an outcry that Nigerian oil be boycotted, the US government refused to do so.

IDI AMIN
General of Uganda
-----------------------------
Amin was one of the most notorious of Africa's post-independence dictators. A former heavyweight boxing champion in Uganda and a non-commissioned officer in the British Army there, Amin caught the attention of his superiors because of his efficient management of concentration camps in Kenya during the Mau Mau rebellion in the 1950s, where he earned the title of "The Strangler". Because of his loyalty to Britain and his strongly anti-communist stance, Amin was picked by the British to replace the elected Ugandan government in a 1971 coup. While in power, he earned a reputation as a "clown" in some circles in the West, but he was no joke at home. Amin brutalized his people with British and US military aid and with Israeli and CIA training of his troops. The body count of his friends, the clergy, soldiers, and ordinary Ugandans rose daily, but the West ignored his cruelty. As he continued to demand more aid and sophisticated weapons, he finally lost support. In 1979, his quest for more power lead him to invade Tanzania. In retaliation, he was overthrown by an invading Tanzanian / Ugandan army. Amin fled to Saudi Arabia, where he now lives a quiet life in a modest villa outside Jeddah, looking after his goats and chickens and cultivating his vegetable garden. Traditional Arab garb has replaced the bemedalled Field Marshal's uniform of his heyday.

No benefit from the "hero"
What benefit did the Liberian people derive from Doe in order for him to be touted as a hero? When Doe came to power nothing changed, in fact everything from corruption to economic growth got worse.

Nations like the United States and South Africa had REAL problems with slavery, segregation, and apartheid. The only thing that ever took place in Liberia was segregation and it was not by force it was by choice and circumstance. There were never any laws like Jim Crow that forced Liberians to segregate. I remember that time, the so called congo people dominated the Presidency but there were native people working in many official posts, having their businesses, and moving freely throughout the country. Look at George Boley who was one of many others that had a high position and was provided a government scholarship by Tolbert. Apartheid, slavery, and forced segregation would never have allowed this.

There was no excuse for Doe's actions and the sole purpose and intention was to seize power by any means necessary. This is why our country is on its knees today while countries who chose the peaceful route to changing their leadership are more prosperous (ex. The United States with the election of Obama and South Africa with the election of Mandela). Perhaps some of you who were manipulated into believing his actions were part of a "revolution" or "liberation" movement still need to rationalize why that initial support was provided but it is high time we moved on and called it for what is was, a mistake. No real tangible benefits resulted, the only thing it changed was the face and ancestry of the president which was not worth the problems that came after wards and the situation we find ourselves in today.

p.s. This is a test to see if my opinions will be posted. I appreciate the support many provided, friend and foe, however it is not illegal for the Liberianforum to engage in the active omission of deletion of my posts. If it was being done intentionally, as I have surmised, it is highly disappointing and unethical but again that is my opinion. I hope to engage you in further debates in the very near future.

Liberia: The Bridge Gangs Return
A. Abbas Dulleh
5 February 2010

-----------------------------
Following findings in 2008 that parts of the only remaining bridge linking mainland Monrovia to Bushrod Islands were being dismantled, its inhabitants were removed, some given about US300, to find new homes. But they have returned and are back in business.

Some considered hardened criminals, they returned on both sides of the New Bridge despite the presence of a police depot on the bank of the Waterside Bridge.

They have also turned the New Bridge to a ghetto, while some were seen smoking and raining insults at officials they blame for their misfortunes.

But marketers of the Marjua Market said the men are neither harmful nor undermining the bridge. They said assist them to sweep the market in return for tokens.

comment: many immigrants live under this bridge, today their children are leaders in Liberia. :cry

The drama continue

Today Liberians are crying for President Doe's returns if it was possible. Because those politicians cliamed they were the best and better to lead then the native boy failed us making Doe to be the hero missed.

Doe , the man who lay down his life for
People of the forum , remember what Liberia was like before 1980 coup? Remember do you know who iam?
It is very sad to read some responses that are in no way make sense. Doe might not be our favorite leader in today's Liberia, however, can you of all people point to one of the best leader? If so , we look forward to seeing that speacial president .

Count thirty eight coup plots excluding Quiwonkpa's invasion,Nimba raid and Ellen-Charles Taylor's war that took the lives of five hundred thousands. Do you know what it means to be sold by the very people the soldiers'lives were risked for?

Who brought about multi-party system in Liberia? Was it Tolbert,Tubman,King ,JJ Roberts,Barclay and others? As a reminder, it was Doe and sixteen other men that risked their lives for your asses to enjoy the freedom in today's Liberia. While it is true that Doe have some short comimings like any other leader,in a very short time , he built ministries, roads, bridges, encouraged youths to take education serious. He also encouraged sportmanship in the area soccer and other sports in Liberia.

Doe is not a tribalist as some of you professed he was.He had in his administration all the tribes including the very Americo Liberians .His cook, doctor, special services minister, chief justice and others are all from Nimba County . A dictator can never allow people he detest to see about his food, health ,finances and legal services. No, Samuel was not a dictator.

Where are your so-called progressives? Sawyer, Mason,Jackson,Tepoteh,Dawn,Fanbulleh and others? They failed the nation's children sent in the streets 1979 rice riots. Do you hold them accountable for the lives lost during that faithful day?

Well, it was sergeant Doe who risked his life to free the nation from bondage. Be mindful of that, always.

The warrior called King by the brit for
This man was a hooligan
THE WARRIOR, KING SAO BOSO

A biographical sketch

by S. Jangaba M. Johnson Download this document as txt-File.

Liberian oral traditions are replete with biographical sketches of some of the most important characters who also made valuable contributions towards the establishment of Liberia.
One of these is the biography of Sao Boso of Bopolu, erroneously referred to in earlier accounts as "Boatswain," which the author recorded while on a research tour of the Bopolu District in the 60s.
The account is given by his late great grandson, Hon. Boima Zina of the House of Representatives, R. L., and other leaders of the Bopolu Chiefdom.
Sao Boso was born at a town called Sunga in Guiea. His father was a Mandingo whose name was Koigbe, of the Kamara family.
While yet a boy, Sao Boso was sent by his father to a relative of his for training. This relative was one Litombo Sewe, a leading Mandingo warrior, who lived at Mamboma, in the Yawuyahun section of the Gbandi tribe.
Sao Boso remained with this great warrior until he grew to manhood, and became well trained in warfare. By this time, there was in the area now called Bopolu, a great Gola warrior whose name was Gbogai. This man, because of his strength and power, took advantage of all travellers he found on the main highway between the far inferior and the coast, by seizing, divesting them of their effects and selling them into slavery.
It happened one day, a friend of Litombo Sewe, whose name was Tanu Jalla, visited him at Mamboma.
This man was a native of the town of Dezeeba in the Bonde section of the Loma tribe, and in going, he carried with him a cow, a sheep, a goat, a cloth and a gown as presents for his friend. Litombo was pleased with the visit and the presents, but he became somewhat embarrassed because he was not in a position to adequately reciprocate the visitor's kindness. To rid himself of this embarrassment, he said to his friend, "Tanu, I am glad for the visit you are making with me; but the presents you have brought me are so many and so valuable that you have set me wondering what to do when you get ready to return to your home; for, naturally, I should try to put you away as you came. So I have planned to send to the coast for some goods with which I will be able to send you off. I therefore request that you give me a man to accompany my men. I will send for you when they get here. But I understand that there are some people on the highway who give trouble to travellers. You are therefore to keep listening for a message from me; if my people encounter any trouble on the way, I will appeal to you for help, if necessary."
In compliance with Litombo's request, Tanu Jalla gave him one Bonde Woiwo to go along with his men. The travellers succeeded in going down and reaching the coast without any incident; but on their way back home, they were captured by the Gola warrior, Gbogai, when they reached his town. He took everything from them and, with the exception of Bondo Woiwo and another man, who managed to escape, and sold all of them into slavery. The two men who escaped, carried two silver spoons to Oldman Litombo.
One could just imagine the feelings of Oldman Litombo when he heard the story of Bondo Woiwo and his companion concerning the capture of his men and the seizure of his goods by Gbogai. He at once sent word to his friend, Tanu Jalla and informed him of the occurrence and suggested an immediate invasion of the Gola warrior. Jalla, whose expectations were also disappointed by the rapacious action of the Gola Chief, lost not time in joining Litombe in his plans.
Tanu had a friend at a place called Kollela, whose name was Vafole Kolle. Upon Kearing of Litombo's intentions to invade Gbogai on the highway to the coast, he sent for Vafole Kolle and asked him to help his son Jalla and his friend Litombo in their adventure. Tanu also sent for some warriors from Ziema, to help in organizing an army fo the fight. These warriors from Ziema went unter the command of one Suba of the town of Boi. In going to join Jalla, Suba also sent for Sukoi Balla of Bluyema and asked for his assistance in the warfare. Both Suba and Sukoi Balla led a large number of men to Tanu and, he in turn, turned them over to his son, Jalla.
Jalla arriving at Litombo's town, Mamboma, with his troops, including Vafole Kolle, said to Litombo, "1 have come to you, so that we could go and rid the highway of the trouble-maker." But before Jalla's arrival at Mamboma, Oldman Litombo Sewe had called all his Bons and told them of his desire to have them lead an army against the Gola Chief, Gbogai, who had caught his men and taken all his goods from them. His Bons told him that an expedition against a trifling man like Gbogai, would be unprofitable and hence, they were not inclined to make the trip. When Jalla and his men got to Mamboma, Litombo again called his sons and pleaded with them to lead his army against the Gola robber, but they refused to go.
Seeing that the oldman was determined to put an end to the wicked practices of the highway robber, and finding that his cousins were unwilling to comply with his request, Sao Boso volunteered to lead the contemplated expedition. Great was Litombo's joy over the cooperative spirit of his young nephew. He collected a large number of other warriors from the neighbouring sections and placed them under the command of the young prince. Next in control of the army, was Tanu Jalla, his friend. In dispatching the expedition, Litombo gave Sao Boso a Muslim called Kumazii Sanyo and another to Tanu Jalla, by the name of Kolle. These Muslims were to assist their respective leaders in praying for their success in the fight against Gbogai, the villain. Having had his army well organized, Sao Boso led them Gbogai Town. The first halt made by Sao and his men for any considerable length of time was a Toalata (Tawalata), a Kpelle town situated about twelve hours walk from Gbogai Town. When the Mandingo and Loma army arrived at Toalata, they asked to know whether the people there were connected with the man, Gbogai, and his associates in their rapacious practices, and if so, whether they were ready to take the consequence. The inhabitants of Toalata told Sao Boso that they were peaceful people and not inclined to war. Hence, they were in no way connected with Gbogai and his followers. They welcomed the strangers and gave them a place to rest. Sao Boso's army rested at Toalata for some time and then passed on to meet the predatory warrior on the highway. However, as the could not wholly trust the sincerity of the people of Toalata, Sao Boso left some of his own people in their town, under the lead of one Jassa Nyein, to watch their movements.
The fight against Gbogai did not last long. Sao Boso invaded his town, captured himself, and then continued the invasion of other towns until he reached the coast. As a result of these invasions, the people of Gomgbea (Another Kpelle section), submitted themselves to him as their lord and king. As a token of their submission, they gave him a white cloth, together with a sheep.
After Sao Boso had made a complete conquest of the coastal area, he sent word to his uncle, Oldman Litombo Sewe, informing him of the success he had achieved in his adventures, particularly in the killing of Gbogai, the Gola Chief. He also sent some of the spoils taken from the invasions. The Oldman's happiness concerning his nephew's achievements was indescribable. In reaction, he thanked him immeasurably and instructed him to remain in the conquered area, making there his home, to keep the highway open to travellers to and from the coast.

With this instruction, Sao Boso settled himself and all the people of his army in the invaded area. The site on which he built his town was the very one that had been occupied by Gbogai. This was the town that was later called "Bopolu" by travellers going thereto from the coast. The word "Bo" is another name for the Kpo Mountains, "Polu" in Kpelle means "behind," "beyond." Bopolu therefore means "behind or beyond" the Bo.

There were three families that settled in Gbogai's invaded area, namely, the Kamara family (headed by Sao Boso), the Sanyo (including all other Mandingo families) and the Bonde Loma who established a town of their own which they called "Sapema," about 30 minutes from Bopolu. Thus the two Mandingo families and the Bonde family formed the Bonde-Mandingo section, and this, together with the Toalata or Koninga and Gomgbea Kpelle sections, composed the Bopolu Chiefdom, of which Sao Boso was supreme Chief.
Sao Boso's influence stretched far and wide: From the Tuma River to the coast, and from the Lofa River in the west to the St. Paul River in the east. Powerful warriors in these localities were appointed by him to serve as his representatives, each in his own area of residence. These valiant men were, Gbupe (the grandfather of Taakono, present Paramount Chief of the Bokomu Kpelle Chiefdom), Zuwulo of Fuama, (grandfather of Boto Barclay, now member of the Liberian Senate from Bong County), Bombo Kaso of Goije and Getumbe in the region near the coast which is known as the Gboo area. It was during one of his visits to the coast that he made that memorable decision that warded off the Dei natives and barred their molestation of the Liberian colonists and enabled the latter to settle in peace. The decision was: that since they, the natives had bargained with the colonist and received some goods from them as the price for an area of land for their settlement, they were bound to let them have the said land. He warned that if he found them molesting the strangers he would cut off their heads.

This just decision given by King Sao Boso, created and maintained a strong friendship between him and the early Liberian fathers. Although his town of Bopolu has fallen far behind in the matter of development, it was the first gateway to the hinterland in the early days of the Republic. It was Sao Boso's son, King Sao Momolu, who facilitated B. J. K. Anderson's expedition to Musadu (Mesadu) in 1868.
Sao Boso died in 1829, eight years after his friend, Tanu Jalla had passed. As supreme chief of Bopolu, Sao Boso was succeeded by his eldest son, Momolu, who was commonly called "Sao Momolu."

My children will never be used by the retuned slaves .If you guys missed the old Liberian way, well, it is not all the liberians on the level such as yours. We do not miss the grand old party ,but looking forward to the future. Doe made it possible for our dreams to come true. VR should be ashamed of the notion that Doe didn't do anything in Liberia .
Who free the people? Who built good roads, bridges and markets. The returned slaves at the time were renting their own houses as ministries and poketing the taxs payers'money. Placing themselves in higher positions so as to steal money .That is what Ellen administration is praticing today as I writes.

Doe did alots for us as people who were in one hundred and thirty three years bondage under the returned slaves . If you choice to go back that route, then be my guest.Iam sure some of you on this forum missed saying yes sir and yes mom to the returned slaves. My grand and great grand parents paid taxes, but were not represented in the country's political arena.
For me, Doe did turned that clock since 1980 and Iam not going back to those dark days. If you wish to return on that route,go alone.

Come 2011 ,you shall see the change ,puting behind the repeat of True Wig Party pratices by your so-called savior Ellen, the egotistical idiot. You have no shame to praise one who brought carnage with the lives of five hundred thousand Liberians and demonizing Doe.
Think wisely folks, the future is yours to protect and not play fools. HAVE YOU REALIZED ANY DEVELOPMENT UNDER ELLEN'S FOUR YEARS IN OFFICE ? WHAT HAPPEN TO THE BILLION PLUS SHE BOAST OF RECEIVING FROM THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY? THE ELECTRICITY,ROADS,WATER SYSTEM AND MANY OTHERS HAS NOT BEING DEALT WITH TO THIS DATE. HOW DO YOU ACCOUNT FOR SUCH FAILURE? Wake up my people. The political bus has left the station.Open your ears and eyes.

"Because of intermarriage and an aggressive national unification program, tribal divisions are rapidly becoming less distinct, especially around the capital. Nevertheless, there is a strong tendency among the indigenous people to preserve their tribal identities."

This is segregation by choice and circumstance. Today we still have many advocates of tribal preservation. There were never any laws that forced people to remain in their tribes or live the traditional lifestyle.

If Samuel Kanyon Doe will be rememebered as a true Liberian hero as some speculate, then why can't Charles Ghankay Taylor be?

KEEN OBSERVER,
YOU ARE NOT MAKING SENSE AT ALL WITH DOE AND TAYLOR COMPARISION.NOW THE REASON BEING ,THAT TAYLOR CAME TO POWER TO AVENGE AND PROFIT HIMSELF FROM THE ONSET. DOE ON THE OTHER HAND, CAME TO CHANGE THE POLITICAL SYSTEM.
WITH SOME SHORT COMINGS ON HIS PART HE DID FAR BETTER THAN TAYLOR-ELLEN COMBINED. DURING DOE ADMINISTRATION YOU COULD GO TO THE BEACHES AND SOME OTHER RECREATIONAL FACILITIES TIL MID NIGHT WITHOUT FEAR. WE HAD SECURITY THAT PROVIDED PROTECTION TO THE CITIZENS 24/7. MINISTRIES,BANKS,MARKETS,BRIDGES,ROADS AMONG OTHER DEVELOPMENTS NOT LISTED HEREIN WERE BUILT DURING DOE'S ADMINISTRATION. TAYLOR WAS THE DICTATOR AND DOE WASN'T, WHICH IS THE FACT.

WHAT DEVELOPMENT CAN YOU PROUDLY POINT TO, WHEN IT COMES TO TAYLOR- JOHNSON'S ADMINISTRATIONS? NONE/ZIP AND NADA. THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN TELL THE READING PUBLIC ON THIS FORUM THAT THESE TWO LEADERS AND DOE ARE ON THE SAME LEVEL REFERENCE AS TO WHO REALLY CARRIED ON DEVELOPMENTS.
WITH ALL THE BEEF YOU HAVE WITH DOE,SOME LIBERIANS WILL ALSO TELL YOU THAT WITH HIS SHORT COMINGS LIKE ANY OTHER PRESIDENT IN THEE REPUBLIC,HE WAS A TRUE PATRIOT WHO WAS WILLING TO LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS COUNTRY FROM 1980-90. IT IS EASY TO DOWNGRADE THE LATE PRESIDENT,HOWEVER,THERE ARE SOME US WHO WILL ALWAYS BE GREATFUL TO HIM.

Samuel Doe,Taylor & Ellen Sirleaf
The reason is, all have done wrong to the people of Liberia. All these people named above has a place of remembrance in the lives of the Liberians. Doe killed Liberians and corrupted the country, Taylor killed, raped and corrupted the country, Sirlead supported Quiwonkpa's invasion that killed hundreds of Liberians and Charles Taylor's rebellion war of 14 years that killed millions of Liberians. Also her government is presently being marked by the National Director of the Catholic-owned Justice and Peace Commission (JPC), Cllr. Augustine Toe, that there are compelling reasons to conclude that corruption is being institutionalized in the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf administration and has categorically referred to the government as an institution that is gradually being transformed into "a kingdom of come, grab, and go".

Doe was a man
Doe was a mindlessly violent man whose death by castration, as he did to Thomas Weh-Syen and co, was appropriate. He bravely announced publicly that “there was no man in Liberia to challenge me and move me from power.” Doe even fooled the Liberian people into believing that no gun could harm him, a question Prince Johnson put to him. But when he was seriously challenged by other group of determined violent men, his regime of 10 years easily collapsed as his incompetent Krahn army generals, including the army chief of staff, Henry Dubar, ran away. It would not have been fair to Weh-Syen, Nelson Toe, Podier, and others had Doe died of heart attack peacefully in his sleep. How satisfying it is to the families of these men to see the big and bad Doe cowardly crying and begging Prince Johnson not to kill him. In death, I am sure Quiwonkpa, Weh-Syen, Nelson Toe, Podier, Flazzaminton, and the other PRC members Doe castrated to death took him to the same plastic surgeon that treated them for the same condition. BRAVO PRINCE!

Liberia is not free..
YAKPARO, was a one man army, taking people out, at variouse locations arround the country. He was from Bong country. I was a boy at the time, but I remember when he was also killed by another hunter.

According to the story, he had some issues with the Tubman administration. He did not want to be arrested.

To this day, I believed that the April 12, 1980 coup could not have being the worked of Doe and the few untrained AFL Personnels calling themself PRC.

Who advised Doe, to killed the government officials?

Similarly I can not believed for a minute, that Taylor broke jailed in Boston,
got on the plane, and show up at the Liberian border to decleared War on the Liberian people.

I am also confused as to how LURD got financed to removed Taylor from office.

Who supported Prince Johnson against Taylor, during the war?

When prince Johnson arrested Doe, Who was he calling on the two way radio?

My personal conclusion is that our nation (Liberia) is being played by some super force. Perhaps, a plan is in the making for 2011, that we do not ever know about.

All this agrument about who Doe was, or what he did, Taylor and the NPFL, Ellen johnson, These leaders were all acting on behave of the super power that controls Liberia. As funny as it may sound,

You Are Mistaking the Truth..Mr. Toure
During the regime of Doe, how many warring factions did he have to contend with as in the case of Taylor?

How much to your knowledge did the Taylor government receive from any donors, nations, etc as in the case of Doe for development in Liberia? The Doe government received the highest and biggest support both in cash, materials, equipment and political backing from America, China and other countries compared to any leadership in the history of Liberia. What can you point to?

Liberia under Taylor, did not receive any political support, financial support, material support from any of the above mentioned nations for development. How can you condemn such regime for failure to do development. The only thing Taylor inherited was violence from the Doe government.

Further you averred that Taylor came to power to revenge. Yes it is understood because you are from the Mandingo tribe that supported Doe with false information in return for the conference of citizenship on them. So it is easy to read the path on which you are travelling. How would you justify the killings of Tolbert and the 13 government officials by Doe? Was it not out of revenge? What about A.B. Tolbert who was arrested months after the revolution and slaugthered? Was it not an act of revenge?

Oh yes! The true Liberian people know the story. You twist the truth because you want it to suit your interest. Take a moment and reflect on the days of your much acclaimed Doe. If you have any conscience at all, you will see the difference between your believe and the facts on the book.

In another development Mr. Toure, my post above didn't compare Taylor to Doe. If you read with comprehension, you will see that I tried to mention the changes both men effected on the nation of Liberia. They both made some changes in Liberia. So your conclusion that my "conmparison" does not make sense is totally misplaced and miscalculated based on your bias aginst Taylor and Ellen.

Still in another development, Taylor and Ellen have totally different political environments. Taylor came to the presidency as a war-lord turned politician, as such he did not win the admiration of the world like Ellen has done. Consequently, Taylor did not receive any international support and at the same time, his regime was marred by warfare right after 2 years in the presidency. On August 8, 1999 LURD launnched the insurgency that removed Taylor. So How can you expect a government running solely on internal revenue sources to build you the kind of structure you envisage in the face of mounting social and political upheavers?

In short, no comparison between Taylor-Doe on the one hand and Ellen-Taylor on the other hand.

For more information to educate you, during the regime of Doe, there were several announcements of coups which resulted in early evening curfews. I don't know where were you during the early years of the coup that brought Doe to power? Weh-Sehn and other were killed exactly one year after the take-over and there was curfew on the city of Monrovia. In 1983, Doe announced curfew as a result of the alleged Nimba Raid. Do you remember that? Where were you? 1985 following the abortive coup that killed Quiwonkpa, Doe placed seige on the city for several months and rounded up people "believed" to be associated with the failed coup. These people were taken to unknown destinations, which I guess, you may have some idea about since you enjoyed 24/7 freedom on beaches under Doe. Can you explain to the Liberian people where Doe carried those people under the cover of darkness while you enjoyed 24/7 freedom as others were indoors?

Gray D. Allison and others were arrested on charges of planning to overthrow Doe. There was curfew again on the city while you enjoyed freedom on the beaches. One may wonder why you, Toure enjoyed 24/7 freedom on the beaches when others were indoors? Maybe you care to tell the Liberia people at the appropriate time.

Maybe you further need to be informed that some of the projects you referred to under Doe government were already in the pipeline before the coup. Take note.

In conclusion, I just want to let you know that I have absolutely nothing against Doe and his regime. I simply went through the headache of outlining the points above to clarify your doubts about the difference between Doe and Taylor.

As for Ellen, the nation is still waiting to see what her administration will achieve. I am nt a spokesman for any of the leaderships.

Hope you learn something from my clarifications.

The story of Lazarus and the richman: Luke 16:19-31
-----------------------------

There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

'And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

'And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

'And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

'And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seethe Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

'And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

'But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receives thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

'Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldst send him to my father's house:

'For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

'Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

'And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

'And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Conspiracy Theory?
Thomas, I must admit that your conspiracy theory sounds very much out of the ordinary. May be we all should be connecting the dots like you have done here. The reality is that any leader that fails to get western backing is not likely to survive. Only few have defied the west and survived. One of them was Sekou Toure of Guinea. In Latin America, Fidel Castro is an example and to some extent Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua.

Ahmadinija of Iran would have been tollerated if he was a pro-western dictator. It's sad but it's the reality. Now that the Big Brother has some how endorded Ellen, can we conclude that she is going to win the next election?

Meanwhile the brother of Sekou Toure was driving big American cars and his children enjoying vocation abroad including spending time at the Liberian executive mansion with late Tolbert. The evil man do live after them.

When I visited guinea many of the natives were in abject poverty many of them goes to school without footwear that country was very backward almost everyone was dishonest, almost everywhere on the streets in their counties roads side one could see voodoo on the streets for example: white rice mixed with kola nuts almost everywhere on the streets, it is called voodoo charities for the demons. :cry I give them credit without equipments many of the mandingoes can detect gold under the group by consulting the voodoo. :cry

The Words That We Speak
My Message to you the contributors:

Be it any religion, read about the words we speak from your book:

The words that we speak, are they life or death? Do they give us hope or discouragement? Since we are held responsible for every word we speak, I think we had better listen very carefully to what we are saying, before uttering not just to others, but also to ourselves. Notice what Jesus said: "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned" (Mt.12:36-37). Let us look at the words, justified and condemned a little more closely. By being Justified -- we are being freed from all blame, we are without guilt and we are shown or proven to be right. Condemned means -- to be pronounced unfit for use, guilty. By our own words we can be free from blame and without guilt, or we can pronounce ourselves guilty and unfit for the use of God. If it is the Word of God -- it is Life, it is freedom. If it is ourselves speaking -- it is death, and words of death will destroy, kill everyone that hears us; and not only they who hear us, but ourselves as well. Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."
So what do we love -- Life or death? What are we eating, and what are we 'living' on? Is it Life or Death? It is one or the other. Let us quote Proverbs 18:21 again, it says that "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." And in 18:20, "A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled." Is our belly satisfied and filled with life, which is Christ, and live; or are we filled with the manna of death, which is an enemy, and die? Let it be life, and then this verse will come to pass, "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death" (1 Cor.15:26).
All evil comes forth from the heart and proceeds out of the mouth. " The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jer 17:9). "...For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" (Mat 12:34). "But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies" (Mat 15:18-19). We need the circumcision that is of the heart, by the spirit (Rom 2:29), then the evil that comes out of our hearts will cease. "And I will give them one new heart, and I will put a new Spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh" (Ezek 11:19).
Let us take a moment to see what the heart expresses through the tongue. "And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and is set on fire of hell, for every kind of beast, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?" (Jms.3:6-11). I could go on with the rest of the verses, but I am sure you can read the whole chapter yourself, which is very good.
Has anyone ever said something negative to you, and you just wilted and felt like you had died inside, or perhaps they said some beautiful words to you, then you just blossomed like a flower. This is the way of the tongue. Let us, therefore, tend to life with our tongue, which may seem to be an impossible task; but be assured with God all things are possible (Mk 9:23). We will and shall be able to tame the tongue and only speak living words of life and reality. In Proverbs 26:20 we also find these words: "Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth." When our wood, hay and stubble is consumed, the carnal fire has gone out, but the eternal flame of God will burn for ever. Praise God Hallelujah!
We can see there is a negative (dark) side, but there is always a positive (light) side as well. What is important to us is that which is positive, that which gives us life eternal, and we know our life comes from God the Father through Christ Jesus, Who is the savior of all man. It is good to know the dark side of things, so we can stand against the wiles of evil, but it is so much better to live and have our being in the positive (the side of light and life).
I myself want to live. What about you? I know the answer to that. We are all wanting to live, and not just live but to live life more abundantly.
So now that we know we are all wanting to live, let us look at some of the scriptures that speak of those things that give us life:
Proverbs 10:20 says, "The tongue of the just is as choice silver", (silver speaks of redemption & righteousness),( see also Proverbs 25:4-5 and Psa. 12:6).
"A wholesome tongue is a tree of life" (Prov. 15:4), and we know that Jesus Christ is the Tree of Life -- ever living (Rev. 2:7).
"The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life" (Prov.10 :11), and John 4:14 tells us that He (Jesus) is the water for the thirsty. Jesus also said, "If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink" (John 7:37). "In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found..." (Prov. 10:13), "...and with wisdom the house is built" (Prov. 24:3-4).
"The lips of the righteous feed many" (Prov. 10-21), and Jesus said, "Feed My sheep" (John 21:15-17).
To have all the words of life we must be circumcised in the heart and put on the mind of Christ, also communicate, and have an intimate relationship with Him, with Christ the living Spirit which dwells in us. And He is in us, don't we know? "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach" (Rom. 10:8). You see He is so close, in our mouths and in our hearts -- so why don't we speak words of Life and Live? Because our hearts first need to be circumcised and we need to have His mind. "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Rom 2:12). "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways" (James 1:8). We know a double mind can mean death or life. And "For to be carnally (fleshly) minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace" (Rom 8:6). As long as we are thinking or speaking negatively of anything or anybody, we do not have His mind, nor are our hearts circumcised. We die each time we utter ill words, they cause us to abide in death. To walk in His life, we must have His fullness and His mind. There cannot be any negative thoughts or words spoken, because they will result in death. As long as we possess carnal minds, we have death, we are dying, and we will go to the grave.
Jesus tells us in John 5:19 "The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He seeth the Father do: for what things soever He doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise." He also said in John 14:24, "...The word which ye hear is not Mine, but the Father's which sent Me."
In conclusion, lets speak life giving-words which is “love” for our country, others and ourselves. But opening passed wounds will only hurt our country and its people.

God bless Liberia!

Be blessed, I love you all !!

There is no way stationaries can overth
Keen observer, no matter how you may preach it is not cheap to overthrow any government it takes cash and foreign support because if you succeed you need help...before and after ..plus talking about Taylor he did not get enough support from the U.S. because of his ambition,he sent to do a job and turn things over but he refuse. Taylor himself just the other day confess that the master plan was CIA.

if I can record during the quawonkpa days of the attempted coup he was stopping at the hotel in Freetown I was in that same hotel on a business trip.(BENTOMANIA)hotel

Prince Johnson confess of receiving ten million dollars from CIA.

The Curse
I honestly believe our country was cursed when Tolbert and the 13 were murdered.

I also believe that we will remain cursed as a people and country until certain individuals in their writings and speeches stop trying to make excuses for these murders. When you attempt to rationalize an evil act such as murder you yourself are committing an act of evil.

The perpetuation of evil needs to stop.

The same goes for people who try to rationalize the murders committed by Doe and Taylor.

It perpetuation of evil needs to stop.

Beyond the fact that no one seems to realize that 13 is an unlucky number it is outright disgusting to see people giving indirect praise of such an event. If you want to know why we are cursed it is standing right in front of our faces. The spirits of these people are haunting us.

The perpetuation of evil needs to stop.

The bible says.."Thou shall not kill, thou shall not bear false witness, thou shall not steal, and thou shall not covet thy neighbor's goods."

Every single one of these commandments have been broken in excess and by multitudes of Liberians since 1980, beginning with the coup.

The perpetuation of evil needs to stop.

I hope this message gets posted.

You Dead Wrong VR
The most bizare thing said here is that we are cursed because 13 people were executed in 1980. To think this way is to negate all the eniquity that defined the Liberian society for 133 years. The people excuted represented a decaden system that was based on eniquity, supposed superiority of the few against the majority. Anywhere else in the world it would have been the same. Let VR study what happened in France during their revolution. Let him study similar political events in other parts of the world and tell us his finding. For anyone to think that everything was alright before 1980 he or she really needs a psychiatry examination.

Where Doe went wrong is repeating the same thing he executed other people for. You can't accuse other people of stealing and turn around and do the same thing all over again. It's the same thing Taylor did. That's why we are in this mess. Not for the reason VR and people like him are advancing.

I applaud Nvasekie Konneh for this brilliant analyses of the Samuel Doe saga. It's only unfortunate that most respondents are responding with simple comments of yes and no without any logical analyses of issues as demonstrated in this brilliant literary piece. Thanks Bro. Konneh for a job well done.

Pastor Suah
Pastor Suah, I think you could have found different place or wrote an article to preach your sermon. This sermon has nothing to do with the discussion here.

Response to Post #35
Gargar, I guarantee you today when you visit Conakry, you will see that it is far better than Monrovia. It has better roads and buildings. You will definitely be sorry that all of what you think of Guinea is wrong and it's a far developed place than Liberia.

Of Doe, of Taylor, of Sirleaf
To start with, I checked the Webster's New World Dictionary for the definition of "Coup d'etat" which is defined as "the sudden overthrow of a leader or government."
Then I turned the pages of the same dictionary further for the definition of "rebel" which is defined as "wage war one who resists authority..." That brings me into the fray to speak of former Liberian Army Master/Sergeant Samuel K. Doe turned president, and former rebel leaders Charles Taylor and Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf turned presidents, and draw some distinctions between Doe, Taylor, and Sirleaf regarding the processes they employed to claim state power respectively, and to ascertain who killed the most.
Samuel K. Doe
As we all know, Doe came to power in a bloody military coup d'etat and toppled the government of William R. Tolbert on April 12, 1980. Following the coup, 13 other government officials were executed in broad daylight after they were tried by a military tribunal and found guilty of rampant corruption and abuse of public office.
The military government under Doe managed the turn of event which was the first in the country's history and restored calm without any bloodshed except those who died in the process.
The fact that Doe executed former Vice Head of State Thomas Weh Sen and others for allegedly plotting to overthrow the PRC Government leaves in the minds of many Liberians that Doe was a tyrant who ruled by the gun.
Let me point out one thing that people may not know. That is, the first year of the PRC administration (1980-1981 April 12)was the best year of the PRC leadership where every member was enjoying the confidence of the establishment.
But then things changed after Doe returned from a three-day visit with former Ethiopian President Mengistu Haile Mariam in early 1982. Reports say during a closed-door meeting between the two, Doe reportedly sought the advice of Mengistu on how to consolidate his power in order to remain in office for a long time. That's when, according to the reports, Mengistu told Doe he MUST eliminate all those and him who staged the coup or else he will have problem within the ranks and files of the PRC. Mind you, Mengistu did the same exact thing to those and him who carried out the bloody coup that ousted Halle Selaise.
Doe took his counterpart's advice bringing into fruition in August 1982 one of those fake coups that victimized, Weh Sen, Larry Johnson, Henry Toe, Henry Suomi Zuo, and others.
The Weh Sen et al "coup" was not the end. There were numerous others that took place for which killings were done mainly at the beach behind the Executive Mansion. But the good thing about those fake coups is they were pinned on military men only, except for the 1984 "coup" in which Major MMD Flanzamington of the Executive Guard Battalion was the ring leader and paid the price for his idiocy. What happened was he was given a list containing the names of politicians like Baccus Matthews, Amos Sawyer, Jackson F. Doe, Henry Kesselly, and Gabriel Kpolleh to memorize and implicate them. But instead, he took the list out of his side pocket on camera to read. The next day Flanzamington was dead meat.
Yes, some civilians were entangled in the coup fiasco during the Doe era. Take for instance, the November 12, 1985 "Invasion" led by former Army Commanding/General Thomas Quiwonkpa who Ellen, Harry Greaves, et al used to carry out the act.
But when it failed, Quiwonkpa committed suicide (don't mind Edward Slanger claiming his assassination) because he felt that innocent civilians and soldiers alike would have died in the aftefrmath. Surely, Harrison Pennoh, Charles Julu, and others had a field day on mostly the Gio and Mano people from Nimba.
If one takes a critical look at the "killings" done by Doe, the number will barely reach thousands. And those "killings," done between 1980 and 1985, were done to protect his life as a person as well.
But when Doe took of the military fatique and wore the double-breaster suit after his election as president of Liberia in October 1985, he completely became a changed man with a goal to develop Liberia in fulfillment of his campaign promises, and at the same time was preaching reconciliation. Doe built roads, hospitals, a modern police headquarters, and market buildings. Other development projects Doe carried out were the erection of light poles from Freeport to the Gardnersville Highway leading to Red Light in Paynesville. Under Doe, the now Samuel Kanyan Doe Football Stadium in Paynesville which was started by Tolbert was completed. Under Doe, football in Liberia was given priority pumping more funds into the sports as a moltivating factor for Liberian footballers, especially those who comprised the national team, Lone Star.
It is no mistake that out of Doe's suppport for football, a football superstar who played 10 years of professional football in Africa, Europe and the Middle East and won three international laurels was born. Even my new born baby knows him. Fact is, if Doe were alive today, Liberia would have made it to the world cup long ago, not to mention the fact that it is going to be in Africa for the FIRST and LAST time this year.
If Doe were alive and still president, by this time a bridge would have been built from Battery Factory in Gardnersville across the river to Jallah's Town to ease the traffic conjection in Vaitown and Freeport daily. If Doe were still president, the multi-milion dollar National Bank structure that he started on the Exeuctive Ground between Ashmun and Broad Streets, and Commerce Ministry and the National Investment Commission would have long been completed. And if Doe were still president, the new Defense Ministry in Congotown would have been completed by now also. In a nutshell, if Doe were still alive, Monrovia, the nation's capital, would have been rebuilt to the pride and admiration of Liberians and foreigners alike, and the Ganta/Harper Highway project would have been completed as well. All the above is said because those and other development initiatives were on the books when Charles 'Sirleaf' and Ellen 'Taylor' came with their rebellion that ousted Doe leaving those structure with bullet holes and smoked up.
In Doe's coup, only very few people got killed. But When Taylor and Sirleaf together rebelled, the lives of some 300 thousand Liberians, minus those of their children and other relatives, were taken in the end.
So for those who have been calling Doe names, check your brakes and think for a moment and make comparisons to the killings done during the Doe era and those of Taylor and Sirleaf combined in order to ascertain who did the worst.
It beats my imagination how most Liberians could cast blind eyes on the fact that Taylor and Sirleaf are using the ordinary (country) Liberians to achieve their goals and still suppport them. It was the ordinary Liberians who fought the war, not the children of Taylor and Sirleaf, and voted those two thieves into office during the 1997 and 2005 presidential elections, respectively. What improvements have their lives gotten since they became president? They left them out and always imported their sons and other close friends from America and Europe for jobs while the ordinary Liberians booted under the rug.
Now election is coming again next year. Will those ordiniary Liberians cast their vote for this same woman who lied to them for her own gain again? Or, will they give her the pay she deserve by booting her out of the Executive Mansion this time on election day?
Think on these things!
And may the soul of Doe rest in peace.

Dumb-dumb VR
13 +1 = 14, an even number, you dumb-dumb VR.
Twisting it any other way will not cut it. Get over it. That nonesense selective numerology is b.s.!!

So for you, killing natives (directly or indirectly from disease, poverty, malnutrition, civil strife since Americos curssed the land to be known as Liberia, at a conservative rate of 46, 000 per year x 162 years = approx 7.5 millions) is not a greater curse??
Now we know your kind of stupid logic. Wake up from your coccoon!!!

Da me say so!!!
