President Sirleaf blames “PAPA” for hard times in Liberia Print E-mail

sirleaf3The deceptive mind of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was again revealed in her state of the nation address--the president blame poor “papa“ for “having failed to find a job or to get the help to feed the hungry children.”

How callous and reckless such a statement by a president who have provided no serious social programs to uplift the lives of the suffering people in Liberia. Then she said that “I want you to know that I understand what you ordinary citizens go through each day to make ends meet for yourselves and for your families.” How can this president claimed to understand the people’s sufferings when she told a boldface lied that she has instituted “fiscal discipline of a cash-based expenditure regime." What fiscal discipline has the president  instituted in the face of mountain corruption in her government? So how is corruption going on if there is fiscal discipline in the government? Another dubious statement by a corrupt president.

To add insult to the people’s sufferings , the president has taken no judicial action against her corrupt officials. So how can she say that she understands the people’s sufferings when she has increased her government officials salaries more than 1000%, as compared to ordinary citizens? But she has downsized and right sized ordinary workers, forcing them to leave employment in squalor.

Then returning to her usual deceptive mannerism, the president made another promised that “We will work to ensure that when our children say "papa na come", papa will come home joyfully with something, no matter how meager, to sustain his family.” Did the president not make this exact promised more than four years ago? So what happened? Why  has she failed to deliver on her earlier promised? Liberia’s president Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf should come clean and admit her lack of understanding about development economics and confessed that she misled the people. She needs to admit to her failures instead of blaming poor papa for not finding a job to feed his family.

Not satisfied with her economic deception, the president embarked on a political campaign, declaring her intention to re-contest the Liberian presidency by claiming credits for the United Nations and World Bank projects in Liberia. Another political deception that can only come from the mind of a sadist, a cruel person who enjoys the sufferings of ordinary people , and pretend to understand their sufferings. The president relied on the Poverty Reduction Program, as the main cornerstone of her development progress. But what the president failed to tell the Liberian people was the TRUTH, the poverty reduction program was introduced in Liberia under the Gyude Bryant’s Interim Government. So where is president Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf own development agenda for Liberia, before she became president? This is the question that the president, and her blind followers, has never answered.

On the altar of Jehovah, I pledge undying resistance to political deception. Above all else, the people’s struggles must continue. It is time to build a BLOJU NATION. Excuse me while I throw out!

TWISTED CHARLIE AGAIN...
As usual, Charlie is making up lies about what the President said in her speech. No where in the President speech did she blame any one group for the difficulties all Liberians are facing to put their lives back together after 30 years of misrule and 13 years of civil war.

Here is the President full statement about the so-called "papa".

Mr. Speaker, Honorable Legislators, we have come a long way in our journey to economic reconstruction and national renewal. Let us reflect on where we have come from as a nation. Just five years ago, this country was little more than a shell, devastated by war, an economy in ruins, lacking any real physical infrastructure, an international pariah and inhabited by a people worn down by decades of conflict. In 2006 we launched the Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy, a 180-day deliverable program. In April 2008, we launched an even more aggressive three-year (2009-2011) development agenda under the full-fledged Poverty Reduction Strategy or “Lift Liberia” Agenda. This development plan was drawn up, not simply by the Government in Monrovia, but by the whole people of Liberia. Through meetings throughout the length and breadth of this land, our citizens made clear their priorities and from that this plan was formed. For the first time in Liberian history, we have a road map for our future that was truly laid by the people of this great nation themselves. The wisdom of the Liberian people is such that our development partners endorsed this plan as the best prescription for laying a solid foundation to reduce the suffering of our people through rapid, sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

In doing so, we were very mindful that the decline and destruction experienced by our country for more than 30 years would not be fully addressed in three or six years. Thus we said quite clearly in our Inaugural Address on January 16, 2006, and I quote: “Our economy has collapsed due to the several civil conflicts and economic mismanagement by successive governments. The task of reconstituting our devastated economy is awesome for which there will be no quick fix”. Honorable Legislators, there is no magic wand to transform our nation from destruction to prosperity. The success we are able to make in bringing development to our people will depend upon the participation and support of all Liberians. „Papa cannot come back home in happiness if he never leaves his house.

You see Charlie, the President is asking every Liberian to part take in the development of the nation. She saying that if you do not leave your house and get outside and do something, you will not get a reward to bring back to your children and wife.

So why are you twisting the President called for action by all Liberians as blaming so-called 'Papa" for his hardship.

By the way, are you still rechecking your facts(lies) about Mr. M. Flomayan, Chairman, National Elections Commission (NEC)? When will you admit that your made up story was a lie about him just like the one you are making up again.

Chicken without head
looking for job is not enough the currency need to be addressed, during those days in Liberia all you need is to find a job things will be taken care of eventually but with weak currency no way out of poverty half of the salary goes to transportation for the family to work and school. Liberians are seriously suffering I have never seen Liberia living under local currency but I observe that in many African countries during that time Liberia was doing good with U.S currency.. all one have to do is to find work every things fall in placed there is credit system also, today finding job is not every thing I believed government cannot keep up with infliction.

system with local currency with low purchasing power dishonesty pays not only with the upper but with the local making it dangerous for the people who want to live a half descent lives.

government make more in revenue meanwhile she pay the citizenry peanuts making it difficult to survive, only major way of survival is corruption however Lebanese knows how to manipulate such system very well. :cry

It is now very clear.!!!
From all this posturing, clearly we see someone in the person of Ellen Sirleaf who after years of causing so much harm direct and indirect to Liberia, she has become so suicidal but is unable to take her own life but want someone else to do so so she can die a martyr. That will not be the case here. The game plan is out and a bigger game will engulf her soon. Her blind, dumb and deaf supporters will not stop this plan.

Watch out for the Ides of March and soonest Easter.

New Democrat (Monrovia)
Liberia: Unemployment Breeds Instability

27 January 2010

Outgoing Chairman Dr. Charles A. Clarke of the ruling Unity Party (UP) has conceded that unemployment for thousands of youths in the country poses challenges to the UP and this is a recipe for instability.

"And it (unemployment) is critical because if we do not employ our people we run the risk of instability," Dr. Clarke told New Democrat Monday in an exclusive interview at the party's headquarters on Broad Street.

Dr. Clarke pointed out that most of the youths in the country are unemployed largely due to bad governance inherited by the current government adding that "We have a whole pull of employment."

"We have challenges. And one of the major challenges is unemployment. Most of our people are unemployed because most of the infrastructure had been idle," the outgoing ruling party chairman said.

He added that "government has been unable to solve all of the unemployment problems, but we are making efforts toward solving them."

"Our people need jobs to take care of themselves and their families. The idle mind is the devil's workshop. We have to make sure that we do everything to create the necessary jobs for our people. This is why we are happy to see a number of investors coming to Liberia," he said.

With the opening of concession areas, Dr. Clarke said more jobs will be opening up to reduce the unemployment situation, citing China Union which signed to mine iron ore in Yekepa, Nimba county, and plans for a Malaysian Company to take over Guthrie rubber plantation, among others companies.

INCOHERENT CHARLIE IS BACK
INCOHERENT CHARLIE IS BACK!
In your last senseless article, you asserted that James Flomoyan, chairman of the Liberian Elections Commission, was sent to Ethiopia and trained there in military violence in the 1980s by the then minister of education, Dr. Boima Fahnbulleh. As a result of the training, you claimed, Flomoyan actively fought as a rebel in the Liberian civil war.

However, your claim was challenged and dimissed by Tolo Cofa, who was among the group of students that went to Ethiopia, as \"lies and nonesense.\" In comments to Cofa\'s challenge, you said \"I am going to check my facts and will get back to you all.\" But you never did. Now you have come back with this nonsense, twisting the president\'s words that she \"blames papa for hard times in Liberia.\" Now, how can you be taken seriously when you, as an ass-kissing George Weah\'s stooge, in defending him, deliberately elevate lies to the level of truths? As a Weah\'s ass-kissing boy, it will be better if you changed your name to George Weah Jr.

In all your writings, you have focused on criticising the Sirleaf Administration than offering solutions. In your future writings, I want for you to offer solutions that will convince me that Weah is prepared to lead Liberia. I am tired reading and hearing you and others telling us to vote for Weah because \"he is a great son of the land, Fifa footballer of the year, and he loves his country.\" These are not public policy reasons for which to vote for anybody. So, think about this as you go on kissing Oppong's ass.

Clique of Corrupts
Only in Liberia can a President misused the State of the Nation address, which is constitutional obligated, to declare her candidacy for the Presidency. Such a practice should not be supported in any shape or form. It is pathetically wrong now and it will always be wronged. The President made a serious mistake and she needs to appologize to the Liberian people. She owes it to her integrity and comity of nation.

You are going to feel the pains of political depression as you watch helplessly to see Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf re-elected for the 2nd term. You statements are only political favor that will soon evaporate into the atmosphere. Were you and your likes were the Liberian people, then much chaos and backwardness could have befallen our nation. Ellen for 2011 is a sure and relable victory train.

No Problem
No problem. How will papa leave his house if people who said they were already working in America for good money are brought here to sereve positions as low as procurement officers. The responsibility of the president is to provide job for all Liberians and if some are already workng in America for good money. why bring them back to work for samll money in the midst of huge unemployment back home. The work that should cause papa to leave his house and come back happily has been occupied by people who were already working in America. If my salary is decreased from the amount I took it to,i will resign.Infact I was working for good morning in the United States and will not accept peanutes here".This was the statement of madam Parker at the Freepor of Monrovia. This reminds me of the man with a dead elephant on his head,an a lion in his hunting bag and still fighting the poor man for ants on the ground.A.Mamey

Liberia: Sirleaf Admits Failure

28 January 2010

Voters gave President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf the edge in the tightly contested presidential election in 2005 for three basic reasons. She had been a longtime socio-economic and political activist with in-depth knowledge of Liberia’s problems; she had just recently been an international civil servant well versed in banking and commerce; and her credentials and experience would give donors the confidence to rush to Liberia’s reconstruction and recovery efforts. It has been four years now and the Sirleaf Administration’s “Lift Liberia Program” is still crawling on its knees as the gulf between donor pledge and delivery widens. The President acknowledges the failure that borders on defeat, but she is not daunted. The Analyst Staff Writer has been leafing through her Annual Message delivered this week for details.

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf said that even though the nation is overwhelmed with problems and stalled recovery programs, there were more reasons for hope than there were for despair.

She said as long as there were problems facing the nation, her administration would not rest until it found appropriate solutions with the cooperation of the Liberian people and Liberia’s diplomatic and economic partners.

“I feel your pain as your President. It’s the worry I wake up with every morning, the burden that I bear as I work more than twelve hours a day. It is the source of many sleepless nights,” the President said regarding the slow pace of the revamping of the private sector and the creation of jobs that would make the Liberian child to say exultingly, “Papa na cam!”

The Liberian leader made the remarks when she addressed the 5th Joint Session of the 52nd National Legislature, Monday this week, at the Rotunda of Capitol Building in Monrovia.

The President’s annual message, which she said she abridged for effect, addressed the results of the collaborative efforts between the Executive and the Legislative branches of government and the translation of legislative actions into governing tools.

She also addressed issues related to pending and proposed legislation, the statuses of the four pillars of government’s PRS agenda, the prevailing economic conditions of the country, TRC report and her take, County Development Funds, and electoral politics.

Executive-Legislative Collaboration

President Sirleaf praised members of the National Legislature for their commitment to joining forces with the Executive Mansion to bring peace and prosperity to the nation and its people.

The proofs of collaboration, she noted, included the passage of key legislations, which were crucial to the reform and development efforts of her administration under the Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) agenda.

Amongst the 31 pieces of legislation the National Legislature passed into law in the last 12 months, she said, were the Act to establish the Land Commission; the Public Finance Management Act; and An Act to establish the Liberia Airport Authority.

Others were the Amendment to the Independent National Commission on Human Rights Act; and an Act Establishing the Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (LEITI).

The Liberian leader told the lawmakers that the effort of the past year would not be complete and meaningful to the hope and aspirations of the Liberian people unless they gave equal attention to other essential pieces of legislation now pending before them, or which the Executive would submit this year.

“Honorable Legislators, we ask your usual cooperation for the enactment of proposed pieces of legislation still pending before you, which have significant implications for the achievement of our goal of national renewal and for the protection of our people,” President Sirleaf said.

The legislations in question, according to her, are the Investment Incentive Act of 2009 and the International Convention against Doping in Sports.

Others are the three Mineral Development Agreements between the Government of Liberia and AmLib United Minerals for operations for Rivercess, Grand Gedeh, and Montserrado counties; the Code of Conduct for Public Servants Act; and an Act to Amend Title 2, Criminal Procedure Law, as enshrined in Volume 1 of the Liberian Code of Law Revised.

In order to keep the nation’s development agenda steady in 2010 she said she would be submitting several proposed acts intended to enhance the progress and tackle several PRS-related challenges.

The proposed acts, she said, would include An Act Amending the Public Procurement and Concessions Act of 2005 and to harmonize the New Mining and Mineral Law and Petroleum Law with the PPCA; and An Act to Create the National Bureau of Concessions.

Others would be the Liberian Law Reform Commission Act; the National Security Reform & Intelligence Act; An Act to amend Sub-chapter C of the Domestic Relation Law of Liberia 1956 & 1976 relating to Adoption; the National Insurance Commission Act; and the Amendment to the Insurance Act of 1973.

The President said she would also be submitting for the action of lawmakers acts covering post-duty social welfare for top-level public officials.

“I will also submit to your Honorable Body, for consideration and enactment, an Act to amend the Act providing for Retirement Pension for the President and Vice President, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate and Members of the National Legislature, the Chief Justice & Associate Justices of the Supreme Court and Judges of Subordinate Courts of Record, Cabinet Ministers, Deputy & Assistant Ministers, Members of Autonomous Commissions, Ambassadors and other Senior Officials of Government, including Superintendents of Counties; and legislations to Repeal Moribund State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs),” she said.

Beyond these, she said, her administration would expect the lawmakers to ratify the Putu Iron Ore Mining Ltd.; BHP Billiton Iron Ore; Elenilto Minerals and Mining Ltd. for the Western Cluster; and the 2nd Amendment to the China Union (Hong Kong) Mining Co., Ltd. and China Union Investment (Liberia) Bong Mines Co. Ltd., once they were submitted.

In the short period that the National Legislature adjourned for its annual recess, the President revealed, she propagated five executive orders in “the interest of the public to meet emergencies or to correct particular situations”

These, she said, were Executive Order No. 18, represented an extension of Executive Order No. 7, on Establishment of Liberia Macroeconomic Policy Analysis Capacity Building Project (LIMPAC); and Executive Order No. 19, provided for an extension of Executive Order No. 11 on Suspension of Tariff on Rice.

The others were the Executive Order No. 20, established a Law Reform Commission; Executive Order No. 21, amended Executive Order No. 20; and Executive Order No. 22, provides for the protection of Whistleblowers.

Of these executive orders, the President said, she considered No. 22 profound and relevant to achieving the nation’s objective of national integrity.

“This Act, when enacted, will encourage the participation of every citizen in the fight against corruption; provide for the manner in which individuals may, in the public interest, disclose information that relates the unlawful or other illegal conduct of corrupt practices of others; provide for the protection against victimization and retaliation of persons who make those disclosures; and provide for a fund to reward individuals who make the disclosures. This Act will be a powerful tool in the fight against corruption,” the Liberian leader said.

On the Threshold Bill just passed and submitted to the President for signing into law, the Liberian leader said she needed more time to peruse it and make her input.

“Honorable Legislators, you have acted on the very important legislation, the “Act to set the Threshold to Reapportion Constituencies throughout the Republic of Liberia ,” popularly referred to as the Threshold Bill. I want to be clear that I am just as anxious as you and the public for the passing of the Threshold Bill. But I would be less than responsible if I did not point out to you the consequences of setting the threshold at a level that threatens the development which we both have worked so hard to promote,” President Sirleaf said without further comment.

Vision, National Development Agenda

Regarding efforts, which her administration was making to translate its vision into policy objectives for application in development programs, President Sirleaf said there was no deviation from the true path to prosperity.

She said even though there has been no deviation, her administration was facing mounting challenges due to the nature of the programs themselves, the administration’s obligation to remove the consequences of years of misrule in Liberia, and what she called “delays in planned investments”.

“Our critical objective, over the next two years of this Administration, is to achieve rapid, inclusive and sustainable growth and development; to build the capacities of and provide new opportunities for Liberia’s greatest asset – its people; to establish responsible institutions of justice, human rights and governance. This is our vision and our commitment which can only be achieved when the majority of our people share in the vision and are willing to participate positively and constructively in the processes of reform and change,” she said.

She said in April 2008, her administration launched a three-year crash agenda of the development agenda under the full-fledged Poverty Reduction Strategy or “Lift Liberia” Agenda to hasten development in the country.

She was however quick to note that the crash agenda was not intended to address in three to six years the 30-year decline and destruction of Liberia.

She described development as “a slow and continuing process” and noted that having put into place building blocks to construct a peaceful, secure and prosperous nation, the nation was well on the way to prosperity.

“By rebuilding and retraining the armed forces and police, we are on the way to making our country safe again; through sound management of the economy, we have doubled investment into the country, and more than halved our national debt burden – meaning we will have a far greater ability to create jobs and provide services in the future; by setting up an Anti-Corruption Commission and reorganizing the General Auditing Commission, we have demonstrated our resolve to stamp out corruption; we have brought lights, water and basic sanitation service to the Capital City for the first time in 14 years and are in the process of bringing them to the rest of the country,” the Liberian leader said.

On PRS’ Peace and Security Pillar, President Sirleaf said, her administration has renovated several military barracks across the country ahead of the completion of the training of some 2000 officers of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) and was in the process of reactivating a 40-man Coast Guard Unit.

She said some 600 police officers would complete training by year’s end and 13 Immigration Patrols would be established in six counties.

On Pillar II: Economic Revitalization President, Sirleaf said the nation’s economy has been growing steadily during the last four years, averaging 7.4 percent. As the result, she said, the nation has bought back most of its debt, and that given the current level of economic activities, jobs would be available in Bomi and Bong and Gbarpolu and Cape Mount and Nimba and Grand Bassa and Grand Gedeh.

Regarding Pillar III on Governance and the Rule of Law and Pillar IV on Infrastructure and Basic Social Services, President Sirleaf said adjustment of basic salaries for civil servants, reforms in market allocation of strategic commodities, the establishment of the General Auditing Commission, and Liberia’s membership in the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) were key indicators that her administration was on target.

TRC, CDF

Away from public policy and achievements, President Sirleaf said another challenge facing the nation was what to do with the TRC report and its recommendation, some of which she said were controversial.

President Sirleaf recalled the resources that went into the TR process and praised the exhaustivity of the data compiled, noting, “there is no doubt that it dissects and analyzes our problems and makes meaningful recommendations for the healing, reconciliation, restoration, peace, prosperity and progress of our nation”.

“It is therefore important that we carefully digest the Report and make a conscious national determination to move ahead cautiously and strategically in the implementation of the recommendations,” President Sirleaf said.

She however noted that in the digesting the report, the law must be the guidance, noting that she welcomed the national “Palaver Hut” programs and reparation as true measures for reconciliation.

Also, she said, she welcomed the recommendation for dual citizenship and that she would be working with the National Legislature in that regards.

Regarding the County Development Fund, President Sirleaf said because the performance of the fund was found wanting in meaningful programs and activities in the various counties, her administration would seek the magnanimity of county legislative caucuses to recuse themselves from its application.

“While we endorse your continuing role in the selection of those representatives of the citizens of the county who will determine development priorities, we believe that the success of the program will be more rewarding if management of the development process such as procurement and financing is left to the Executive Branch to be handled directly and solely through the office of Superintendents and other local Government officials. This way, I can hold my officials responsible for implementing these programs in accordance with established laws and procedures. You, in turn, can hold the Executive accountable through your constitutional oversight role to ensure that funds are used properly and strictly for the purpose intended. We are seeking a similar change in the guidelines governing the management of Social Development Funds of the Concessionaires so that these procedures apply to all funds allocated directly to the counties,” she said.

President Will Run

Meanwhile, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has ended more than two years of speculation that she may seek re-election in next year’s presidential elections.

“However I act, whatever I do, it will be for you. And so it is for these reasons and to bring to an end all speculations, that I now announce to you and to the thousands of supporters in radio land and abroad that I will be a candidate, a formidable candidate, in the 2011 elections.

“Let us travel the rest of this road together knowing that the God who brought us this far will not leave us. I thank you,” said Liberia and Africa’s first female head of state.

Let it be known that Chorpie Charlie is a senior member of Weah's CDC. He stands to benefit personally from the government of playboys that Weah hopes to install.

To all the Weah haters
For the record, Weah is not president of Liberia and this is not election time for him to answer your question about why he might want to run for president. To the best of our knowledge, Weah has not yet declared his intention to run for president. So your should hold your corrupt Ellen horses.

Point number two, Weah is not desperate as Ellen is to be president. Weah has never sponsored the deaths and destruction of our country just to become president. We cannot say the same thing about our current corrupt president Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf. In 2005, Weah lost the election by political robbers but he did not sponsored any war against Liberia and Liberians.

As a patriot, Mr. Weah has always put country first above himself. So you guys should be worrying about what Ellen will do if she loses the election, since we already know of her violent and corrupt politics. Weah is a man of PEACE and will continue to be a man of PEACE whether he becomes president or not.

I just wanted to let you frustrated ellenites know this. We that support Weah are true PATRIOTS and put our country above ourselves. The president is not the only means to contribute to our nation building process.

High risk election..
Charlie, My Man,

You need to stop spewing so much unnecessary venom at this President. What has she done to you man? Your latest posting brought out a lot of hate in you. No where will a patriot call a president the names you called Ellen most times. Let’s hope your candidate takes this when he ascends to the presidency.

Wow, the president in her speech did not blame “papa” for “having failed to fine a job or to get the help to feed the hungry children.” Did all Liberians miss that line in Ellen’s speech or did you make it up? Ellen was simply saying that yes, it is difficult for all of us Liberians, yes the rest of the world is having a though economic time, but it is up to us to get off our butts and use the reasonable devices that this government has put in place to help make us Liberians in Liberia better people. While it’s true that she made this promise four years ago, if “papa” does not leave the house, how will he come home? Your challenge then is to help “papa” fine the door to get out the house. Some where it is written that you are a psychologist, so you help “papa” fine the door to leave the house. This government has done its fair share. We, including you, should help “papa” now. I say “papa” can go to the farm. You government job should not be “papa” only reason for leaving the house.

The whole world is shifting to a “cash-based expenditure regime”. William Jefferson Clinton did it in America for eight years with great success. Ellen has done it for the past three years with fantastic success. When was the last time you heard of the government running a deficit? Charlie, even Obama is now advocating for this same form of expenditure system. Charlie, prudent economic theorists will advocate for anybody to spend on what they have. That’s layman definition for “cash-based expenditure regime.”
And yes, there will be waste and corruption, but we all have to make concerted effort to be brave enough to expose those who continue to corrupt the system because it affects all of us. Ellen alone can not be the purveyor of good practices. We all must all must call upon our party with the highest block of law makers to support the “Whistle Blower Act.”

Yes the Poverty Reduction Strategy was not conceived by Ellen. However, the PRS is a UN and IMF project that has been implemented in several countries around the world. Liberia is the only country where the plan is being implemented with overwhelming and direct input from the ordinary Liberians walking down Tubman Street, in Buchanan, Samuel Doe Blvd, in Grand Gedeh, Point Four, on Bushrod Island, and in towns and villages throughout the length and breath of Liberia. No where has this been done. You tell us where. Don’t get hung up on the words introduce and implement. They mean two different things.

The “blind followers” here refused to accept the unbelievable twisting of every word that comes out of Mrs. Sirleaf’s mouth. It’s time that you begin to give us the facts and let us choose the right path come 2011. Football makes not politics.

On the altar of Jehovah, we, all Liberians, pledge undying resistance to political deception. Above all else, the people’s struggles must continue. It is time to build a BLOJU NATION. Excuse us we will throw your gastric ouput back at you! - We are Liberians too

CHARLIE, CHARLIE AND FISCAL DISCIPLINE..
CHARLIE, CHARLIE AND FISCAL DISCIPLINE...

I do not know if Charlie understands what “fiscal discipline of a cash-based expenditure regime” is?

I see Charlie is confusing cash-based budgeting with so-called corruption. Ok, Charlie, cash-based budgeting is about spending money you have through revenue generation and not borrowing a penny. So you see Charlie, this government is not borrowing any penny for its expenditures.

Unlike past governments that borrowed millions and billions of dollars when interest payment is added, this government, after 4 years in office, has not added a penny to the national debt.

Look around the world and tell us which country is only living on the revenues they generate without borrowing to supplement their budgets? Liberia is in a class by itself when it comes to “fiscal discipline of a cash-based expenditure regime."

So Charlie, you apparently have two problems – first, you make up stories and second, you do not have an elementary understanding of the economic issues you want to talk about - what a pity. George Weah will have to find someone more knowledgeable than you or else he is just paying you for nothing.

Here are some of the economic facts you are too blind to see:

National Budget Increased from US$80M to US$370M
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has disclosed that since the ascendancy of the ruling Unity Party (UP) administration, the country’s national budget has increased from the US$80 million, when she took office, to over US$370 million.

The net foreign reserves position of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) at the end of December 2009, according to Madam Sirleaf, was US$226 million, compared with US$49.4 million at end of 2008, reflecting in part the allocation of Special Drawing Rights (SDR) by the International Monetary Fund.

Sirleaf recounted that when her administration came to power, the Central Bank’s reserves stood at roughly US$5 million. She added that the bank now has banking services in nine counties and will continue on this path until all of the counties have access to banking services.

In terms of food production, particularly rice, cassava and other staples, Sirleaf told the audience that there have been significant increases all over the country.

CHARLIE, CHARLIE AND FISCAL DISCIPLINE..
A. Mamey, your post in #10 is very much to the point, especially the last sentence. Those of us that live in the dispora should accept that going home to work is an honest national sacrifice and not mouth off about what we made in the dispora. Too many of us end up in Liberia, with wild claims of fabulous salaries abroad. Well, when I last check, unemployment was rampant in the developed world.

True Patriots
So those who don't support Weah are not true patriots? I wonder what will happen to those who are declared unpatriotic if Weah were to be elected president.

Charlie, these kinds of statements are troubling. Will Liberia be less safe for those who do not vote for Weah?

RESPONSE TO POST #14
POST #14 OR CITYBOY,PLEASE BE REMINDED AGAIN THAT, THERE IS NO PLACE FOR HOMOS LIKE YOU IN LIBERIA, IF YOU LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO MARRY YOU, THIS COUNTRY IS THE BEST PLACE FOR YOU TO STAY AND BENEFIT FROM THE CIVIL UNION ACTS. THE LAST TIME I TOLD YOU TO FIND THE NEXT CDC TOWN HALL MEETING AND DIRECTLY ASK MR. WEAH YOUR QUESTIONS AND HE WILL BE GLAD TO ANSWER YOU, BECAUSE FOR SOME BODY WHO WANTS TO BECOME YOUR LEADER,I THINK IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR HIM TO ADRESS YOUR ISSUE.

Hey, Charlie, are you really serious?
Liberia’s president Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf should come clean and admit her lack of understanding about development economics..." Are you really serious about this statment? Really?

Here us a Q for you. If you seriously believe that Ellen lacks such understanding...and by your own analogy that it is important knowledge for the President of Liberi to have, are you sure your candidate, GEORGE WEAH, meets this test?

Be careful how yoru criticize!

Ellen fiscal discipline is a joke
It is a real myth for these blind ellenites to insist on their miseducated understanding of fiscal discipline.

Infact I will not answer you hostile intellectuals in this post, but I will do a dossier on this question. To re-educate you ellenites about Keynesain economics-I am speaking here about the theory and concept of a balance budget.

Weah's homosexuality
I just saw this excerpt from Morlu's article. Although it does not exactly state the name of Weah it is understandable that the leader of CDC who has homosexuality allegations tie around his neck is Weah:

"One of such alternative routes Gray scouted in response to his failure to get along with the opposite sex was to embrace the filthy practice of bisexuality. On a particular occasion, in another depressed mood, his girlfriend had shown an unyielding refusal to be with him, obviously due to odor-related issues. He confessed to me on a later day that, perhaps he wasn’t meant to be with women and so, it would be better he tried same sex romance, homosexuality. My opposition to such immoral thoughts was swift and instant and he assured that the comments were made out of frustration. Few months after, in the latter part of 2006, he complained to me that his leader had approached him in an indecent manner and that he had actually kissed him. This revelation, which gave me reasons to distance myself from him, keep reminding me of Gray’s initially expressed inordinate homosexual appetite." -

Character Assasinator
City Boy,

We know that George Weah is not a homosexual; he is far from that. It is so absurd that you guys would try so desperately to brainwash Liberians and the international community that Ambassador Weah is a homosexual. This information is far away from the truth. Weah is going to be the next president of Liberia; there's nothing people like City Boy can do to change that. It was from the city of Philadelphia that some supporters of Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf crafted a photograph of a homosexuals performing inappropriate act and pasted Ambassador Weah's head on it. It appeared like it was Ambassador Weah in that photo. That did not hold water with the Liberian people and they elected him. Unfortunately the election was rigged on behalf of Sirleaf. This time around, whether you even show a video with somebody performing homosexual act and cleverly attach Ambassador Weah's head on it and play it on CNN, or if you try to cheat after the voters cast their votes, the Liberians will not allow that; George Weah will still be announced as a winner. In fact, when Charles of all people accused Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf in 1997 of being a lesbian, it did not hold water either. The only reason Taylor was that the Liberian people were tired of fighting and dying. Therefore they overwhelmingly elected Taylor with the hope of having peace in the country. It was not because Ellen was accused of being a lesbian. So having said that, please stop all of your bold-crabs and abalones and find some other strategies for Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.

Have a nice day!

Scandalous
City Boy,
You have always professed to be a better person than is reflected in your post #28. On the one hand, you caution that Morlu should not be believed because he is a liar. On the other hand, when it is expedient for you, you tout the rumors and gossip spread by Morlu as fact to be consumed by readers because it denigrates a person you dislike.
I will state definitively that I am not a Weah's supporter but I do not think this type of dirt is worthy to be repeated by you. We are interested in Weah's politics, not his sexual proclivity.

Interesting
City Boy,

This introduces a dilemma for Morlu sympathizers, many of whom are also George Weah supporters. If Morlu is as credible as they proclaim then there is truth to the widespread rumors of homosexuals occupying high posts in the CDC party. If he is not credible, which many persons contend, then this is less likely. I would like to hear from them (Morlu and Weah supporters) now.

Scandalous
City Boy,
Let me add my voice to this unending Weah-homosexual-rumor that you relish. Just a few weeks ago, Mr. Checkpoint Rebel accused you of being a homosexual simply because you asked whether Weah is a homosexual. I defended you because I felt just as I do now that you're entitiled to asking questions. Up to date, Checkpoint Rebel and others who blatantly accused you of being a homosexual have taken a pause. On the other hand, you seem not to get the message that Weah and all homosexuals will be what they want to be irresepective of your expediency. Are you a superpredator who has a remedy for homosexuals?

You are a known unrepentant athiest. You declaim arguments of those who question your beliefs. In short, you brag about your beliefs as an athiest and show no regrets whatsoever. That's what you're City Boy! Has anyone compelled you to change your beliefs?

Personally, I am not a homosexual rights promoter neither am I an apologist for all homosexual lifestyles. I am an anti-abortionist! But, I equate homosexuality with all sins. But how often do I accused a woman who prostitutes her money in order to get money? How often do I yell at a man who "covets" another man's wife? All of these are sinful acts.

Only an allegation:
The truth of the matter is that you're hell bent on accusing Weah's alledged homosexual behavior without considering that you too may have sinned and have "come" short of the devil's glory. You don't believe in God's existence, but strangely you believe that there is a devil! What a guy?

When are you going to stop scandalizing a sinner? When it became clear that Mary of Magdala would be stoned to death by her accusers, Christ demanded: "He who is without sin should cast the first stone". Of course, no theologian or church father has proven through any research that the accused lady actually prostituted her body. What is Biblically known about Magdala is that the city was a hotbed for prostitution and other uncalled for practices. But yet, a poor lady was being accused because she wanted to "turn" her life around, not from prostitution! She was a native of Magdala, that was her only crime and sin unfortuantely! What is more strange in this Magdala saga is that the gentleman who may have "forced" Mary into prostitution (no one caught this lady in the act, never) was ever brought to trial. If Weah admits, would you ask that he be brought to trial? Who's perfect in Liberia? Just who?

Some may wonder as to why I could ever defend a homosexual. No, I am not defending homosexuality, neither its rights, never. I am trying to be a good Christian! I love all gay people because they're "sons and daughters" of God. I detest the practice from A-z! However, a line has to be drawn and that line must be now.

Here's the line:
City Boy, I think it's about time that you had dropped this topic because it's academically and intellectually unprolific. You're not getting anywhere and you know it! Drop it now!

On Track?
City Boy,
If you are on track, you'll recall that on some occasions, you capitalized the "d" for devil and always apply a lower case letter "g" for God.

In Weah's last article, post number 46, you used a capitalized "S" for satan (although it is always capitalized) and purposely used the small "g" for God. As you can see, I used a small case "s" for satan and so far, no one out there is planning a jihad against me. In post 46 when I saw your response, it became clear to me that you believe in the existence of the devil.

There're other reasons that I could give, but I prefer to chill at the moment!

The homosexual discussion is something I am very uncomfortable with. If there were a situation in Liberia where the voters of Liberia had to choose between a "homosexual and an atheist for president, I think the electorate would stay home and forget about voting. Liberians will not vote for a homosexual or an atheist!

With regard to politics and who might win the upcoming presidential election, I think Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and team will win. Recently, the US secretary of state, Hillary Clinton endorsed Johnson-Sirleaf's incumbency. In recent memory, since when did a US cabinet secretary endorse a Liberian candidate? Her endorsement sends a powerful message to the Liberian people and to Johnson-Sirleaf's political enemies!

I know many people will get mad at me for saying this, but they'll get over it. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will win. It'll be a tough fight, but she'll win ultimately. The Clinton endorsement is telling!

Be cool City Boy!
Send your kids to a private Christian school. They don't need your philosophy of God.

Don't start a new line of argument this year with me. You'll be in trouble.

City Boy,
It's not my style neither should it be anyone's style to curse/insult on this Forum or any news outlet because of a disagreement. So, bear with me because I am not about to curse, insult or degrade you in any way or form. I respect you 100% irrespective of our disagreement!

You have repeatedly made the point that while in Liberia, your church pastor called you a devil. By your own admission, you said that you became furious because the pastor was wrong. I agree with you totally!

The issue is that when someone such as your pastor calls you a devil or any name that you weren't assigned, a picture of whatever you're called forms in your head. You must have gotten mad because:
a. the picture of the ugly devil formed in your head and
b. the pastor's comment was inappropriate. If somecalls me Jesus (as some jokingly do) I will be upset. I know I am not Jesus, will never be, but I'll not get upset. It's really good to be like Jesus!

That's one of the reasons why why I concluded the way I did.
I am being logical. I am not insulting you!

Why don't you, for instance, be logical and ask why Jesus would come down to heal blind people when it is stated that god whom you believe created them is perfect?
